Asuswrt-Merlin on RT-AC68A still an option?

I have been happily using Merlin FW on my RT-AC68A router for quite a few months. I had stopped upgrading to the newest releases right around the time that it came to light that the AC68A was being shipped with crippled firmware from Amazon. I was happily on Merlins 380.58_0 and still am today...

That is the firmware version that arrived on my rt-ac68a. This firmware version appears to be fully functional (at least to me). I am currently running Merlins custom firmware without problems. I do believe the other firmware is the problematic version. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

You should read a few pages back. This model seems to have shipped with two different firmware versions. The firmware on yours, 380_2892 has crippled many of the options on this router, including the ability to upload new firmware. At this time there does not appear to be a work around. Sent...

The unit I received appears to not have the "crippleware". Hopefully as long as I never update the stock firmware, and I stick with the asuswrt-merlin side of things, I will be happy. Asus can't force a firmware upgrade right? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

I have the same options available as mike_in_nyc. When I checked the stock firmware (which is 380_1842) it was up to date. I also have the option to upload a new firmware file. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

RMerlin, is it safe to assume that your firmware for the RT-AC68U with the C1 Hardware revision will work with this variant? Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
