Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.89SF

Voxel - the time has come for me to move on from the R7800 as my needs have changed, so just wanted to say a last thanks for the work on this over the years. I've fallen a bit out of the loop so probably only updated 1 in every 4 or so updates, but this thing has been rock solid for me and I...

    Should I upgrade?

I did think about that, but there's a fine line in my house between function and presentation and I don't always have the loudest voice I've managed to hide the ISP router and get my R7800 in a good spot whilst keeping it mostly hidden. I'd never get away with one those routers that looks like...

    Should I upgrade?

Yeah, this is a DOCSIS 3.1 (downstream anyway, they've not quite got to upstream yet), so that's why I think it is doable to hit those speeds with the overprovisioned config. Right now the mainstream hub they use for my config only has 1gbit ports and a poor AC wifi. I'll take my 940mbits peak...

    Should I upgrade?

Thanks for all the responses. Glad I'm not the only one with confliction in my brain :D On the 1.1 Gbps, my ISP actually has the config set as 1.2 and the Samknows speedtest (if it can be believed) comes back as around 1145Mbit directly on the router. Would I notice this little extra, probably...

    Should I upgrade?

So recently upgraded with my ISP to their 1.1Gb tier and for the first time the speed at the front is over and above what my internal devices can handle. I currently run a R7800 on Voxel firmware, which has been my trusty router for years now and can achieve 640ish Mbit on wireless and in my...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.72SF

Hi all, Anyone else having issues with DNS recently using stubby? (At least I think it's that). I downgraded to 69SF first as a test and thought the issue was resolved, but low and behold later that night my 2 phone devices are left unable to resolve names, but can ping fine. I've disabled...

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.67SF & 1.0.2.67.1SF

Not related to this firmware as I at least noticed it was happening on .66SF, but is anyone else's WiFi calling working? Not working for me and I know it has in the past

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.63SF

Thanks Voxel! Can I just check, do I need to enable Stubby again after each upgrade? I missed .62, so this is my first upgrade since enabling it in .61?

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.61SF

Can I just check something as I've not had time to test Stubby yet... I have respond to ping switched on. I use it for a Broadband Quality monitor, which essentially pings my router and plots the responses onto a nice graph for me. It's useful and sometimes essential for me to establish network...

No "Smart Connect" on the NETGEAR R7800.

Smart Connect has been in the firmware for a while now. Just make sure you're updated to .52 as the the latest version has an issue with WiFi. Better still, put it on Voxel's firmware, which is Netgears but with updated packages, tweaks and the possibility to run and do extra bits. He's...

    DNSCrypt-Proxy version 2 and STUBBY add-ons for R7800/R9000

Sorry, what I mean is if Stubby (for example) is small in size, this could be incorporated into the firmware instead of the original DNSCrypt, or whether it would remain something for people to install and experiment with. Either way, I'll wait for someone that knows what they're doing to test...

    DNSCrypt-Proxy version 2 and STUBBY add-ons for R7800/R9000

Thanks for letting us know. @Voxel Would be interesting to know if this is possible through Entware as a replacement for DNSCrypt, but I'm way out of my league with this.

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.59SF

See some of the replies above, I would go back to 54SF

    DNSCrypt-Proxy version 2 and STUBBY add-ons for R7800/R9000

I've been reading a bit about this DoH vs DoT on the back of an android article. It seems Google is looking at incorporating DoT in Android P and of the 2, it's the less experimental and theoretically would have less overhead. I'm not sure if this is why the ASUS/Merlin opted for this?

    Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.59SF

I went back to 54SF a week ago as I seemed to have an issue where devices would just drop off WiFi (5Ghz). All the fixes, voxel had pretty much done anyway
