Hi
Updated from v10 to v13, no problems so far, only a basic user,I don't use any features on my n66u.
I previously had a uptime of 6 months! But I did have some downtime a couple of weeks ago which reset the timer.
Thanks John and merlin for the continued support.
Yeah I agree this fork firmware is really good, I've tried a few of the later versions and range does not seem as good, so I always went back to 374.43 and with John's work on security fixes and such is great!
Some of you guys mentioning reboots, i can't say I have noticed any reboots on my n66u on version 10.
Looking in system log uptime is 5 days 22 hours, I take it that would change if I rebooted or the router kept rebooting?
Cheers
Just checked with update 10 on my n66u and vpn details page looks fine. I came from update 8 and never done a reset but did power cycle the router.
*can't comment on vpn ip ranges as I have no idea about that.
Hi
Bit of a stupid question really but I guess I'm paranoid!, is it best to turn off your wireless router when away for say a holiday?
Or would that do more harm than good if I turned it off for such a length of time.
Thanks:)
ah ok, must of just been because only just using your firmware from update 7 and your recent update 8/9 fixes.
I may skip update 9 and wait for update 10 and do a full reset, although you state reset is not needed I dont mind doing them as I dont have a lot of settings to change.
thanks
Hello
I see you have a new update 9 out, would you say its important to update from update 8 to update 9, or does the old saying go "if it ain't broke".
You seem to release new updates very quick.
I gather you will be releasing an update 10 shortly with the OpenSSL fix so if I skipped update...
Im using a fixed channel (6), as like you say I stream video on my amazon fire tv box, at present I cant see any problems with performance or other issues so will leave everthing as it is, but if I run into problems I will try some of the things you suggested.
Might take a look at the WMM APSD...
John do you have plans to change the network map device area so it shows devices online either wireless or wired like merlins latest firmware?
I personally like it as it is, with just the one list showing all devices, quite simple and does not give as much information but I prefer it like that...
Just to say thanks John.
Im running update 8 on my n66u and so far all seems good. I downgraded from 378.51 so did a reset. not changed much in way of settings.
Just using a fixed channel for 2.4ghz band and disabled wps.
Is there any tweaks I should make?
Thanks John, might attempt update 8 tomorrow. With regards to jffs I will check that but I assume it will be disabled as I don't use custom scripts nor do I know what they areo_O:)
For resetting I normally do the 5 sec hold of the reset button or the wps button for 30 secs while powering on...
