A week later and still running strong! I believe it's safe to say this issue is resolved. Thanks to all who shared their experiences and recommendations. It has been a rough road with ASUS but now with fixed firmware we have kick a** routers! Happy networking!
Thanks for the response Jong!
Mine is also still running solid just shy of 24 hours now which I never achieved prior. This is looking good! I was pretty sure we were just dealing with a firmware issue here, just wish ASUS support people were better informed of this issue. They claimed they...
Hey all! Finally getting back on here to provide an update since the start of this thread. Honestly I had given up completely with ASUS support. Last 3 or so months my second router has just been sitting in a box not connected. Figured some day a firmware update would release to resolve...
Cables are good. I run APC backups in both locations...power source is solid, outlets are less than 5 years old. Just to recap router runs fine....3 weeks now on its own. Only locks up once 2nd router (Config as AP) is powered on (well within 1-3 hours). Both units run fine when running...
So I have my second 87u connected directly to a switch upstairs which then runs through cat6 cable down stairs to my 87u router. When I last talked to ASUS they advised me to eliminate everything in-between to rule out other possible issues. I grabbed a new network cable and brought the AP...
So it just so happens to be that I am using Safari. I have been using my MacBook Pro the entire time in setting up my two routers. That is one thing I haven't yet tried. I'll give it a try. Others sharing my issue using Safari?
Okay so called ASUS support yet again. Since I have my AP going through a switch to my upstairs they asked me to test it wired directly to a LAN port of the router. So I did...and yes my problem is still there.
Placed a call back this evening and I got someone who after reviewing my entire...
Hearing from more people only insures me there is something going on here. Thanks for your response. I plan to call ASUS yet again today and will post the results afterwards. I have left just the one 87U up as a router and the other which is my AP has been a $270 powered off device for the...
I still believe we are dealing with a firmware issue here. I wonder if we can get Merlin to chime in here...have you seen anything like this or within the firmware that could cause such an issue? Seems like the AP changes its IP on the fly and at random times locking up network. My guess anyways.
So still no answers from ASUS....have been in an endless email loop with the support team now asking to call in as my issue is to complex for email. Which I'll add I started with in the beginning with no answers. Oh and the one response I got about sending my issue to testing must have been a...
My case with ASUS has been sent over to the testers along with my logs to try to reproduce the problem...I will post their response when I get it. Keep your fingers crossed.
I have tried that as well. In my case doesn't seem to matter if I assign or allow DHCP to assign using the reserved DHCP table. Either way the AP appears to change on its own from whatever the original IP it has regardless how it got it.
