OpenWRT firmware build for Orbi RBR50/RBS50

Guide is somewhat an overstatement but I can provide you brief instructions on how to get started. Check out the device page from OpenWRT hwdata. E.g. RBR50 From there you can open git commit and check installation instructions. You can use either GUI of NMRPFlash for installation of devices...

OpenWRT firmware build for Orbi RBR50/RBS50

Ended up to move over to OpenWRT with my mesh of 4 RBR50 devices. My problem has been long distance in between two separate houses for wireless backhaul. Took 4-5 hours of configuring and fine tuning but I'm quite happy with the end result. As mentioned earlier OpenWRT requires a lot more...

Satellites (RBS50) Slow Connectivity to Router (RBK50) after V9.2.5.2.27.1SF Firmware Upgrade

Exactly. If two satellites have same SSID then the interface will come up in between the satellites and connectivity to router will fail. So, you need to rename those with different names. I ended up using premises reference over there as it was easier to manage. E.g. _disabledsauna

Satellites (RBS50) Slow Connectivity to Router (RBK50) after V9.2.5.2.27.1SF Firmware Upgrade

This should do it. wlg_ap_bh_ssid will get disabled by itself and there is no need to reconfigure RBR. Main point is that wlg_sta_ssid is different from any other satellite or the router. I think you have something wrong with 5Ghz backhaul as it doesn't take over if you disable 2.4Ghz...

Satellites (RBS50) Slow Connectivity to Router (RBK50) after V9.2.5.2.27.1SF Firmware Upgrade

I had a similar issue and my solution was to disable 2.4Ghz backhaul by shawn's instructions as posted over here Getting it work was not a problem for my environment and clearly improved performance over backhaul. However the issue I have is that sometimes weather conditions detoriate and cause...

    Disabling 2.4Ghz Backhaul

Yes, Orbi has dedicated 5Ghz backhaul but it will switch to 2.4Ghz if Netgear's algorithm thinks it's better. Problem is twofold: - There is no dedicated radio for 2.4Ghz backhaul and thus clients and backhaul will compete with the same limited rf band - Algorithm is somewhat flawed (or from...

    Disabling 2.4Ghz Backhaul

I have four RBK50 at my summer cottage to provide network coverage from shed to pier. Voxel has been in use for quite a while (Big Thanks!) but I noticed that there is some flakiness in backhaul connectivity in between main building and warehouse. Topology is like this: Basement -(5m)- Main...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.20SF-HW

Stupid question. Just wondering the versioning. Why is this thread 9.2.5.1.20SF-HW and should this rather be 9.2.5.2.20SF-HW or am I missing something really crucial? I thought that 9.2.5.2.1SF-HW was continuation from 9.2.5.1.34SF-HW or is 9.2.5.1. still being developed? EDIT: @Voxel...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.15SF-HW

I acquired a pair of RBS40's with two cans of beer and I'm planning to extend the current RBK50 set of 4 at summer cottage with those. As the environment consist of multiple buildings with some distance in between and rf blocking elements the placement of devices is important for optimal...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.13SF-HW

You are too modest. Value is about having the needed features in a performant and reliable package. And you are the one to Thank for this! I were going to replace my set of RBK50 but because of your great work they have a new life and soul :D
