Google Gets Into Wireless Mesh Networking; Pre-Order Announced

Are there any specs and technology that is currently known about google wifi that is an improvement or upgrade over the eero wifi system? From the spec pages of both I see that the eero uses a 1Ghz dual core processor where the google wifi uses a quad core processor "up to" 710Mhz.

    Mesh Wi-Fi Mashup

Tim, will you be adding the Netgear Orbi to these results? I'd like to see how it compares to the others.

NETGEAR Introduces Orbi Wi-Fi Mesh system

Can an external hard drive be connected to the USB 2.0 port on the Orbi for network storage? There is a you tube video from The Mall of America with someone named Chris who says he works for Netgear and that you are able to connect an external HD.. On the tech specs from Netgear's site there is...

Is Amplifi WiFi a mesh system or not?

I have no idea, lol. I just thought because I've seen some refer to it as a mesh system and some as repeaters perhaps it is some kind of hybrid system if there even is such a thing. I am hoping it is a mesh system like Eero, as it is less expensive and seems to have certain capabilities the...

Is Amplifi WiFi a mesh system or not?

I have been thinking about getting one of the new WiFi "mesh" systems for my home. Eero was going to be what I was considering to get, but now I see there is the new Amplifi system by Ubiquiti. Where I am confused is if is a mesh wireless system similar to Eero, or is it a hybrid mesh/repeater...

R7800 and iOS compatible OpenVPN when?

This is good to hear. I had to return the r7800 due to connectivity issues with my Macbook Pro but if it is fixed in the new firmware I will give it a try again. I really liked the router otherwise, great speed and range with my other devices. Interestingly I did not have an issue with my iOS...

    R7800 SmallNetBuilder Review

I had the R7800 and it was very fast and had great range, better range than another more expensive router. File transfers were great too. The problem I had was it did not work well with my 2011 MacBook Pro. When the Mac would awake from sleep it would not find the network (both 2.4 and 5GHz...

Home Mesh Wi-Fi Coming This Summer From eero

I'm looking forward to your review of the eero system. I am currently using the Netgear R7800 X4S and it's working OK for me. The only place I get a dropped connection on the 5GHz band is all of the way on the other side of the house around 110 ft from the router from a chair close to a sliding...

Home Mesh Wi-Fi Coming This Summer From eero

I noticed that eero will be shipping this month and was reading about it, but what I would like to know is opposed to an extender which has a loss in performance does a mesh network not degrade in performance at all or just not as much as extenders do? What do you guys think of eero system?

Deciding between 2 AC2600 routers, performance question

I am deciding which router to keep between 2 AC2600 MU-MIMO routers, the Linksys EA8500 and the Netgear X4S R7800. I updated to latest firmware in both and did some speed tests at different distances from the router to see which is faster. The Linksys EA8500 gets faster download speeds...

    Netgear R8000 and dd-wrt

I have a Netgear X6 R8000 router which is having issues when I use smart connect. My android tablet continuously drops the connection, and it takes several attempts for it to connect to my network, just to disconnect after a while. I am using the latest firmware. For the first time yesterday I...
