I'm using the official 388.x firmware for the RT-AX88U. I exported and opened the saved configuration file using @medo tool: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/wrt-settings.16992/
When going through the settings, I came across this `dns_ping_list` default setting which contains a couple of DNS...
Thanks, yeah I'm looking into options now but I'm a little frustrated at Asus here. I strongly suspect an issue with the Asus RT-AX88u firmware. Even with AX features turned off if it doesn't work while the AC86u does, something with the AX88u firmware isn't right. Is there a way to get Asus's...
Scratch that, it's stopped communicating again, even after disabling explicit beam formation. The router is showing that it's connected with a strong signal -45db but it's lost communication with the router (severe packet loss). Tried switching it to the RT-AC86u and it starts working perfectly...
Strictly speaking it doesn't lose the WiFi connection it appears to have severe packet loss / loss of communications, like maybe 99% of packets. Eventually a packet will get through but there is severe loss of communication with the receiver after a few minutes.
I don't see anything in the...
Thanks, I did report it to Denon to investigate.
So I followed the instructions and disabled all the 802.11ax features and set it to only N mode for maximum compatibility with the N card in the denon receiver. It's still losing the connection with the RT-AX88u router after a few minutes...
I just noticed a bug in the Asus firmware. Using a RT-AX88u with a Denon receiver (X2400) which has a 802.11n card in it.
If I set Protected Management Frames to *capable* (required to use the Agile WiFi multiband feature), then the denon receiver is not longer able to connect to the router...
If this helps anyone, I figured out what was going on. My testing was being done using a file transfer over windows SMB. That is a terribly designed protocol with a lot of back n forth which is horrible in a WiFi environment because WiFi is half duplex (unlike wired Ethernet which is full...
Did you every figure this out? I’m having a similar issue. I put my RT-AC86U in media bridge mode with my RT-AX88U. But the most I can get out of 5GhZ connection on channel 149 80Mhz wide is about 250mbps, while the link rate shows about 1700mbps. That sucks! I was getting higher speeds when...
Yes I did see that in the change log so I expected that firmware to be faster (as that eq stock version was the fastest for me), however in practice for some reason it gave me a slower performance (not by much, maybe 10-20mbps) than the 386_8_0 which as based on a newer stock firmware. Go figure...
First up, I want to thank this awesome community and also @RMerlin for the amazing work he's done with Asus Merlin (I've been a follower since the RT-N16U days ;)
I had a RT-AC86u and it's a TOTAL beast in it's class because it literally beat every other router in it's price (including a Unifi...
@john9527 been a big fan of your work for many many years now, thanks for keeping this alive. One feedback and one bug report:
Feedback: It would be great if the first post of each release includes a link to the *next* release when the next release is done, this way one can follow the threads...
