[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Yes, it is a very serious question. I have been away from this forum for a long time, and am not aware of (or forgot) the reasons why John started this fork. When I wanted to find out, I was unable to find the answer. As long as I remember, there was some other and precise reasons, no ? Thanks...

Hi John Could you, in the first post of this thread (or here), remind me (and others) what is the goal of the fork ? Thanks, Gaston

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.54_2 is now available

I have a RT-AC68u and the firmware is 376.48_1 Sorry to ask, but could someone summarize the process to upgrade from 376.48_1 to 378-54_2 (I mean: do I just have to download and install the new version ?) Thanks

    Advice for upgrade

About a year. Honestly, I never heard anything about it. You have a few examples (from the forum)? SEM I know that you are very busy answering other posts, but please don't forget this question. Thanks.

    choose a new router

I don't know why, but when thinking about my favorite apostles the words that come to my mind are not subtlety (despite that he probably thinks he is), even less irony... Maybe "frivolity", futility ?

Does fsck work for anyone else?

Please count me on those interested by an answer on that point...

Need advice: In-home wifi gaming streaming

Just to complete: there is also the RT-ac56u (2 core cpu, but with internal antennas), and the RT-ac68u or P (also with a 2 cores cpu, with 3 external antennas, but a lot more expensive)

    choose a new router

No added value, but it is very rewarding to receive the Master touch...

How does Dual WAN work ?

Good. And what were the answers to your questions from these experienced persons?

    choose a new router

Just to complete this excellent post, P seems exclusively used with the ac68. It is also a slightly different beast than the U. The CPU has been changed and it runs faster 1GHz versus 800MHz for the 68U. There could be also some other minor changes.

Please keep it in mind in you future comments... About a year. Honestly, I never heard anything about it. You have a few examples (from the forum)?

How does Dual WAN work ?

I don't know much about it, but it is an interesting question and I made a quick search. Here are two persons using it (and their comments): http://thompsonontech.ca/tech/insight/asus-rt-ac68u-a-digital-home-failure-r207 http://leonid.shevtsov.me/en/how-to-configure-dual-wan-on-asuswrt-routers

    RT-AC66R - upgrade from RT-N56U?

Very good move. You won't regret it: 2 cores cpu, external antennas, 1 usb 3 port, ac standard, ext4 ready if you add an external disk. Just remind that the ac56u would do the same, with the only inconvenient of having internal antennas (2 per band). Having 2 perband would also make it not so...

    Advice for upgrade

Do you consider RMerlin as a 3rd party firmware ? Could you elaborate and document this assertion ? I'm asking because I have seen almost nothing about it. I own a 68u, and 3 friends own a 56u, and never we had to add a fan.
