    AX86U auto-reboots on Mondays

This is more of a generalization, not specific to this router or any router ... Try to configure this auto reboot at say, an hour from now. Wait for it to reboot at that scheduled time. Disable the scheduler. Then wait to see if it reboots again the next day at 6am, and/or the new time.

    Router upgrade

I'm not sure where I got them from as I had them in drawer for ages. I may have gotten them to replace smaller antennas on some router at one time. They are about 8 inches end to tip. They look like the typical round body antennas with a tapered tip you can get on Amazon/ebay. I was actually...

    Router upgrade

I replaced the antennas with normal looking 7-8 inch ones. Looks 10X better, better swiveling/repositioning and performs just as well, maybe even a dBm or 2 better anywhere around the house.

Router to replace ancient RT-AC56U (large home)

Hopefully the 1st one was just a dud and the 2nd one ends up being good. Like I said, my AX73 is solid (but no 2.4 use) I do also have a Netgear RAX50, same reference design as the AX73 and on that one I do run 5 Blink cameras on 2.4, never a problem. This also was my 2nd RAX50, the 1st one I...

Router to replace ancient RT-AC56U (large home)

I've had an AX73 for about a year now, but as a 5GHZ AP only. Great router, never needs attention and surprisingly TPLINK is more actively keeping the firmware updates coming. Like others have said, it's just a matter of tweaking the settings for those 2.4 IOT devices, especially turning off...

Netgear Wi-Fi routers need to be patched immediately (Dec 29th)

I have an unused R6400v2 sitting on the shelf so I thought I'd power it up and update the firmware. It turns out the latest firmware for it has been out since at least last summer, so these patches aren't necessarily new, but I assume the exploit for the bug may have been recently published...

Netgear just made me really appreciate Asus and Merlin

I have a RAX50, it doesn't have this account requirement either. I suspect it's all the cheaper Mediatek based routers all running pretty much the same firmware base that they've done this on. On the Netgear side, the cheapest I'd spring for would be the RAX20, broadcom based. It's < $100 in...

RT-AX86U PRO page now up ...

GT-AX6000 came up locally on sale at most Canadian retailers @ $319 CAD today. I was waiting for this PRO to show up in stock but $319 is a steal not to pass up considering the AX86U PRO is listed at $380 CAD whenever stock shows up for it.

RT-AX86U PRO page now up ...

Local Canadian retailers have started putting up pages for it, but no one has stock yet. $389 CDN which is about $30 more than current list for the RT-AX86U

It starts shipping in China Sept 25th. Some Chinese and other foreign sites have the press releases.

    What's going on with Rogers?

I have Rogers regular cable TV and internet. Cable TV was fine during this outage and one of the reasons I don't want to move over to their Ignite IPTV is stuff like this. However, I've been working from home for over a decade and have always had a cheaper than Bell TPIA 50/10 DSL service as...
