You may try other nice firmwares, such as dd-wrt and openwrt; however, both firmwares don't support hardware acceleration. DD-WRT Openwrt

Should I be worried : R7800 and 5GHz was down when I came home

Well, it's just painful to get an identical power supply. Guess i need to buy a new router or find a "broken" second-hand R7800 for it's power supply. TBH buying a variable voltage dc power supply just to make R7800 work is just dumb.

I have the same problem as you (one channel is down, other work just fine), it seems to be random and can be solved by rebooting. I wonder the QCA9984 and wifi FEM chips are degraded over time?

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Is there reason for that? Maybe higher gain antenna? Better Signal integrity?

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Also, surprised for the power consumption, at lease the flagship wifi 7 routers that comes with a 60W (19V/3.16A) power adapter. Seems not good for your electric bill.

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.99SF

IMO you should turn on WMM on both 5ghz and 2.4ghz all the time, otherwise, you will cap your wifi bandwidth under 100 Mbps per device no matter 2.4 or 5 ghz you connect to. Beside, turning on WMM won't affect the "priority", as long as the "Dynamic QOS" is turn off, it will remain "first come...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.99SF

If your internet bandwidth is enough, turn on QOS will slow it down. From my experience, QOS always "reserve" some bandwidth for nothing. I got a gigabit internet connection(~950 Mbps Up/Down Link). My pc connected to it by wire which got 910 Mbps up/down with QOS and 940 Mbps up/down without...

    nand for r7800

The NAND model seems to be EOL, you may try your luck on local electronic repair store first. You could try search it on ailexpress, but there is chance you will get the counterfeit one, so beware. Moreover, It's from china, so shipping is unpredictable.

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.95SF

Best firmware for R7800 provide better security and faster speed, and the ONLY reason I still staying on R7800 as main router.

News MediaTek Announces World's First Complete Wi-Fi 7 Platforms for Access Points and Clients

I saw 2022 Redmi Router AX6000 from AliExpress is using Mediatek solution (Filogic 830/MT7986A). I'm not posting the link here, you have to search it on aliexpress. But it lacks multi-gig LAN/WAN and runs hot, it still better than IPQ5018 solution.

News MediaTek Announces World's First Complete Wi-Fi 7 Platforms for Access Points and Clients

It seems that mediatek wanna tie with Qualcomm and Broadcom in WIFI 7 in terms of performance. Nevertheless, hopefully WIFI 7 has good compatibility across all generation.
