    Wireless doubts with RT-AC56U routers

How are your 2.4 link rates when not using the repeater? both at close range and far away? AC56u has a known issue (for some users) where the signal is great but the link rate is crappy (less than 5 mbps) when at range. If you have this issue I would just return the router and get a...

    Wireless doubts with RT-AC56U routers

Are you having coverage issues with 2.4 ghz, 5 ghz, or both?

    RT-AC56U 2.4GHZ Issues fixable?

If you don't mind me asking, how much did your enterprise setup cost you?

    RT-AC56U 2.4GHZ Issues fixable?

I guess if you don't mind being in a 'walled garden' the Apple Airport Extreme seems to be highly regarded. Although I don't know how much you can trust Apple users and their usual bias. I'm with you though, this generation of routers has been a real stinker.

    ASUS RT-AC56U issue

This is most certainly an issue with this router. Not everyone will encounter it, though (although I suspect they just don't notice the crappy speeds). With the latest firmware, I have pretty much an identical situation to you. 2.4ghz just inexplicably sucks on ac56u and the plethora of bad...

    RT-AC56u Strange wifi problem.

What's the link rate on your connected devices? Also, does it work any better when you're right next to the router?

Asus RT-AC56U 2.4 GHz connection problem?

The problem still exists for me on the latest firmware. Speeds are improved but it's still really slow. I'm talking 150 KB/s slow, transferring from a wired device. No disconnects either. I wouldn't risk it and just get something else.

    ASUS RT-AC56U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5656

For anyone curious: .5656 did not change 2.4 performance for me. It's still slow as hell

    ASUS RT-AC56U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.5656

Any changes to your 2.4 speeds? Merlin, do these ac56u specific changes be incorporated into your firmware?

Asus RT-AC56U 2.4 GHz connection problem?

I don't think it has been officially acknowledge by Asus as an issue. It doesn't happen to everyone (I know Merlin says his works fine) and, most likely, it is a driver issue which Asus can't directly fix. That being said, they should put some pressure on Broadcom to get their act...

Asus RT-AC56U 2.4 GHz connection problem?

Yeah, 2.4 problem still exists. You can still find recent reviews complaining about this problem. It's been quite a while and no fix, unfortunately.

    AC56U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.374.4561

It's good to see that they're being aggressive with the updates. There are still people with 2.4ghz issues, though. I hope they don't forget that.

    RT-AC56U Miserable 2.4 Wifi expereince

I'd like to see your results... if it is indeed a hardware issue, then there are a lot of broken routers out there. I still think it's either a flaw in the design or bad software that's causing this. I think we just need to keep pushing out those bad reviews to get Asus's attention. They only...

    RT-AC56U Miserable 2.4 Wifi expereince

I might have some good news for those still having this issue. I have attached a 60mm fan to the back of the case and have lowered my temps from: 48 °C (2.4ghz), 50 °C (5ghz), 68 °C (cpu) to 38 °C (2.4ghz), 41 °C (5ghz), 50 °C (cpu) The result is that my 2.4 ghz network is able to hit 20 mbps...

[RT-AC56U] Reboot cycle after update to original firmware 374.291

Merlin, you help us so much - thank you. I purchased one of these per Merlin's suggestion and couldn't get it working. It turns out I had to switch the TX and RX for it to communicate through Putty correctly. Ran the command on CFE and now I'm back up! I think our boot-loops are...
