Backing up Synology NAS *TO* a network drive

I believe that is for a local drive attached to the NAS, backup to a local folder on the NAS, or to backup to another NAS via rsync. To backup directly to another shared drive on the network from a Synology NAS is not possible AFAIK.

Backing up Synology NAS *TO* a network drive

This can be done, but not directly from NAS to drive unfortunately. I ended up having to use Carbon Copy Cloner on my computer and schedule a backup from my Synology NAS to my shared drive. The data has to travel through the computer and on down to the drive, which is not ideal as it adds a...

    RT-AC68U C1 can't enable FA

Thanks for the info, that seems to make sense. I wonder how essential FA is; I was able to transfer ~900 Mbps across my network with just CTF. Is CTF and FA only for WAN to LAN and LAN to WAN traffic?

    Anyone know?

    RT-AC68U C1 can't enable FA

Hi, I did some searching and couldn't find a definitive answer on this. Just got a new RT-AC68U rev. C1 and can't enable FA nat acceleration. I read some threads that said that it's not supported on the AC68U, however I've been able to enable it on my AC68U rev. B1 in the past. So is it...

Random net loss, 5g going down

Well I'm not going to get into it with you, but there's many threads with many, many people all having the same issue, so go figure. Just because you're not having an issue, doesn't mean one doesn't exist. I know what I'm doing, and I know for sure it's not a "setting issue". You haven't even...

Random net loss, 5g going down

No it's not. Please don't spread false information. This is a known issue with the latest firmwares and there are many, many reports. I had this issue on my 68U using the same settings I've always had, and were setup fresh and after a reset to defaults. This definitely popped up after the newer...

Random net loss, 5g going down

I'm almost positive it's a firmware issue. I had no problems until I updated past a certain point. I didn't notice it initially because I wasn't running the firmware long enough for it happen. Currently it crashes for me after about two weeks.

Random net loss, 5g going down

    Yes, 380.62_1 is from Sept. 29, 2016.

Random net loss, 5g going down

Yes. I wouldn't be surprised if the bug came from ASUS and made its way into Merlin's releases.

Random net loss, 5g going down

Did you update to the latest ASUS firmware? I just rolled back to Merlin 380.62_1.

Random net loss, 5g going down

Yes. It seems pretty much all of the current versions have this issue. There are many reports in several threads.

Random net loss, 5g going down

Well my RT-AC68U dropped wifi again on 380.63_2. Both 2.4 and 5 GHz. The admin interface went down as well. The ethernet network was still up and working as I was able to get online on a desktop connected via ethernet. That's about a week and half uptime... which is what I've been seeing; it...

Random net loss, 5g going down

Well so far so good. For me the 5G dropped after 2-3 weeks so I won't know for another week or two (downgraded last weekend). I will post an update then and let you know!

Random net loss, 5g going down

I would suggest rolling back even further; I can confirm 5G drops on 380.64_2. Has happened a couple of times since I updated to 380.64_2... after a few weeks the 5 Ghz wifi goes dead (didn't check 2.4 Ghz network) and all internet stops working to wired clients as well. Haven't updated past...
