I finally managed to ping my client machine from the local machine by setting the Protocol type to `Any` (instead of `UDP`) and by switching the 2 ip addresses of the scope. Is it safe though?

Hi yorgi, thanks for this thread, it gave me hope! ... Sadly it didn't work for me. I am using OpenVPN, set up via the asus RT-AC68U. I can ping my client machine from my local machine only if I disable the client machine firewall, but creating the inbound rule as you described does not work...
