Hi all -
Not sure if anyone has had this issue but I am trying to run 160 MHz channel in a 2x2 config. I can't get it to work as a 2x2, just 1x1, so link speed mirrors 80MHz (866 mbit)
I've tried DFS and non-DFS channel with no luck.
Does anyone know if there is just an issue with Killer...
I just gotta confirm what others are seeing.
This router does not perform well, at all. Significant performance difference between upper 5GHz and lower 5GHz... issues with coverage and disconnects...
I put my old netgear router back in the exact same location running 2x2 ac and I went from...
So while I appreciate the new 28nm process, 8 gigabit ports, good routing performance, etc...
It seems that this router's wifi doesn't work all that great. I get random disconnects and have a tough time with a steady connection. Kind of annoying considering the price. Neat SoC, terrible...
Tim,
Timely article for me. I noticed the same results you did with the ERPOE-5 that I was messing around with (same as ERLITE-3).
R8500 easily allows me to max out my gigabit connection as long as I am not doing QoS. I was hopeful that I could take advantage of some of the neat features...
1.0.2.54
Still having issues
So just to update - I turned off turboQAM or whatever on the 2.4GHz and selected channel 6. The router decided to sit on channel 3 and with those two things, it seems to be stable.
Not sure if the drops were a result of massive overcrowding of 2.4 in my...
I've been having issues with 2.4GHz dropping. No idea why.
5GHz has been stable. Tried a 30-30-30 reset, my wireless printer and air conditioner keep dropping connection. It's driving me bonkers. Anyone have any ideas?
So I've been using the R8500 for a few weeks now and I've been pretty happy. Very solid speeds/stability for me and being able to separate my 5GHz traffic on two radios has seemed to improve performance a bit.
I also like the fact that additional gigabit ports are available though I am not...
In aggregate, I believe that. But on flagships, it's gotta be fairly healthy.
On a flagship $400 router, I suspect there is significant margin built in. Granted, volumes are lower so you need a bigger margin to recoup R&D/tooling/marketing/all the other fixed costs but still.
Well, I've been itching to try a tri-band router and pulled the trigger at $285.98 from newegg. The $400 was way too steep. Even at $286 I feel like I spent a bit more than I should have.
It was somewhat sobering to read the review. Tim, thank you for taking the time to test it. I feel like...
I am surprised Google didn't take the opportunity to allow for customers to easily create a mesh network.
If they can do a chromecast at $29, they should have targeted a lower pricepoint... $99 would have been more appropriate.
I always find real-world experiences helpful.
I've been going back and forth on what router to try next and the WRT1900AC is very appealing but as is the R7000.
I've thought about a second AP (I've run ethernet, so it could easily be a wired solution) but with the current setup I've come extremely close to complete coverage. I really don't want the extra device/wires/power consumption if I could avoid it. Keeping all of my networked devices in a...
