    Well chaps, got it working now, there were 2 issues, it turns out the imported config was ok. 1- I totally missed the 'Redirect Internet traffic through tunnel' setting (is that new?) 2- I had the 'Prevent client auto DoH' set on the wan page which seems to be the cause. Thanks to all who...

    This an imported .ovpn file direct from the provider which works on the previous merlin and after first boot on this version but subsequently not. Appreciate you input.

    RT-AX58U and USB-tether one working one not.

    No tips but I believe USB tethering is dependent on the phone with not alot we can do to change that. I also have a AX58U with 2 Android phones, One is a Oneplus 8 with android 11 and doesn't work. The other is a Oneplus 5 with android 10 which does work and I use that as a backup device...
