Help - duckdns has started returning an IPv6 IP address

Please ignore. Have fixed the issue by a combo of: 1. asked ISP to disable IPv6 (not the issue BTW) 2. restart router (to pick up new IP from ISP - also not the issue) 3. rebooted iPhone (I think this was the issue but not sure as I was trying everything all at once!) Happy Easter everyone.

Help - duckdns has started returning an IPv6 IP address

Trying to work out if I need to talk to my ISP or someone else as I can no longer connect to my network from the outside using duckdns as my DDNS service. If I ping my duckdns address from outside my network, it is returning an IPv6 address and no IPv4 address. Is this and ISP issue?

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

192.168.77.30/24 is the same as 192.168.77.0/24 - I will include all IPs in that subnet. If you want the a single IP then you just use 192.168.77.30 You can use this tool to work out CIDR ranges. https://www.ipaddressguide.com/cidr

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

Thank you - appreciate the input and help. I do get what you are saying and I agree it is very simple - if it was consistent and reliable - which it is not. 1. Why are my wired clients jumping around from being connected to node and main router - this is not reliable behaviour. By your logic...

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

Thanks all but… These devices connected to the node by Ethernet flip between being connected to the node and router all the time so something is wrong. Hope you agree that this is not normal. If I change to wireless backhaul these clients are correctly identified as being connected to the...

Found a way to make AImesh nodes to have different channels!

Good work OP finding a solution to this quite specific use case. I don’t have this issue but I have enough other problems… My lesson is that I have spent too much money on ASUS kit that is ok but still consumer crap. I will hang in there with my mesh setup with wired backhaul. one node still...

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

So true. I think I will change everything over to ubiquity in a year or so once wifi 7 is out and not crazy $$$

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

I know I shouldn't look but I can't help it and it does bother me. haha. it's not a settling/time thing. I see these clients bounce back and forth between node and router for a few days now. It's just irritating that I spent hours under the house in the dirt to wire the node and I'm happy...

clients connected to node by ethernet show as connected to main router

Note: This started after changing one of my mesh nodes from wifi backhaul to ethernet (so i'm confident its related to this change). I have 2 clients connected by ethernet (wired) to this node. When node is connected via wifi backhaul all is good and these wired clients say they are connected...

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Understood and not too worried about this. I only care about adblocking for clients that access the interweb via a browser and this seems to work well with my current setup.

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Thanks @Morris - understood. I see a split of around 85% to AGH / DNS1 and the remaining going to AGH / DNS 2. This is around what I wanted so I am happy with that but i will monitor. Overall I am happy with how my setup works - objective being adblocking not security/privacy - using dhcp/lan...

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Thanks. Do you have any thoughts on what to do so that DNS still functions when both my adguard server are down? This has never happened but it would be nice to come up with a solution for this

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Thanks Gary. I have 2 adguard home servers on my LAN. The primary server is a rpi3 dedicated to DNS and it uses unbound on same box as the upstream DNS server. The second adguard server is running in a docker on a different server rpi4. Setup works great overall. I do have advertise router IP...

pros and cons for the two common DNS setups for a local adblocker - adguard home

Hi all - I guess there are many ways to setup a local DNS adguard setup for merlin. Searching the forums, I think there are two common but simple approaches. 1 - Use WAN DNS settings to forward all client DNS requests to adguard home set WAN DNS to point to local adguard IPs turn on DNS...
