You read the manual just to help me troubleshoot? Well I feel special now, thanks. The extender is in another apartment, my daughter's and I'm waiting on her to reset it one of these days or just bring the damn thing over so I can factory reset. But you're right, it's not hosting a DNS server...
Maybe so. It's a Netgear EX6120 and I don't think there's any way to turn off its DHCP server and make it just a bridged extender. I'm trying to login to it via its local domain http://mywifiext or 192.168.1.250 but no luck. I've been trying for hours but not seeing any devices with that IP even...
My N66U, which worked fine for months, gave me problems when I added a wifi extender to the network and along with it maybe 5 more clients. At first I thought it was the modem acting up since I could reach the router but I just had no internet. So I used "Network Tools" on the router to ping and...
Just blocking youtube. The kids have online classes but spend way too much time watching dumb videos so would be great to block it and maybe allow when I know they're caught up with school work. I'm just kind of playing a game by myself so far and seeing if I can block myself from youtube...
IPset is for newer kernels that N66U doesn't support, right? Or so last I read and why Diversion doesn't support the N66U. But so it goes after I ask the question I found a partial answer using static routes but I have to input a bunch of IPs just to block youtube and after 10+ IPs, it's still...
Any way to block sites by IP on the N66U? I know there's a program (forgot the name) that you can install on most Merlin-based routers to do so but it's not compatible with the N66U due to older kernel. Is there any way whatsoever to block by IP on the N66U? I know you can DNS block but it's...
Edit: Seems this error was fixed with 50DA. Going to try soon.
Same except "watchdog 346" if that makes a difference. Otherwise things seem to be running normally for me as they have almost the entire time of using this firmware.
And congrats on 7 years of this fork, John. I think I've...
It worked. Not sure why but I just enabled/disabled jffs partition and ssh so I can save my settings. After setting them back it accepted the firmware.
I've downloaded 49E4 for the N66U twice and double-checked the checksum but still get "Firmware upgrade unsuccessfully. It may result from incorrect image or error transmission. Please check the version of firmware and try again." Maybe wireless issues on my part? But pinging my router I keep...
Hah. I meant the power supply/charger on the router. I've heard this was an issue for someone before. After all, N66U has many years on it. Thankfully mine's still doing great.
I know this is a thing with PCs that when their PSU starts to fail, capacitors in particular, software can seem pretty flaky. Have you tried another power supply?
Using Firefox? This happened to me at one point with certain extensions, never found out exactly which extension or setting as I changed many at once, but likely those privacy related.
