Guys this is not solved. Took a few weeks but psycho mode returned. Disney Circle still unplugged and nothing new added.
I had all features turned on for those 3 weeks and all of a sudden my family informed me the internet is going up and down again.
I reformatted and have all features turned...
Still no psycho mode since unplugging the Disney Circle AND THEN DOING A FACTORY RESET.
I guess we have our answer. My family is so grateful for normal internet again. Thank you all.
Yes I've enabled them all but none stop the Google or Edge VPN. I read an article on how to edit the registry to prevent him from installing the VPN but somehow he got around it. Microsoft Family seems to be working even if he has the VPN installed. I can't believe they allow this in browsers...
I think you are correct. Since I unplugged my Disney Circle... psycho mode still appeared... THEN ANOTHER FACTORY RESET... psycho mode has not reared his ugly face.
It all makes senses as the Asus routers are not on the Circle's "compatible router list" which I was not aware of.
THANK YOU FOR...
Thank you so much for taking the time to help investigate...
My son's PC had trouble connecting via DHCP so I statically assigned him an IP Address and he got on. I also have static addresses for the printer, thermostat and Water Heater.
It appears the problem may be solved. Since powering off...
Day 3 without the Disney Circle involved and still no psycho mode. Guys this network is as simple as it gets. Was one router and nothing else but now I've plugged in the AC68U in repeater mode and so far so good. Could it be the Disney Circle all this time??? Wait and find out.
I use the DNS Filter with one of the Family filters as the default. Still doesn't stop him installing a free vpn on Chrome or Edge. I have the PC under Microsoft Family control but I do allow him to use Edge.
He does not have admin access but still his developers from England taught him how...
So after endless hours/days/weeks of testing and trials...
My ASUS gets its address dynamically from the modem. I have done zero troubleshooting on the modem side btw.
The router has given out IP Addresses using DHCP and static on the LAN Side.
Right now it's been 13 hours since the last...
There a few things such as a the username and password that was not part of the procedure. Keep in mind ASUS themselves couldn't reformat the router and fix it. The replacement 5300 goes into psycho mode also.
Sorry I don't have the original post but I do remember part of the procedure such as deleting the JFFS partition and unplugging the power, pushing the power button, replugging the power and then proceeding. There were like 10 steps that was to be a complete correct wipe of the router.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
If/when psycho mode returns I will go through the links you sent but I will tell you this. One time I went on the forum and an ASUS engineer posted a very thorough procedure that I followed to the tee and it did not fix psycho mode. That's when I sent...
