Help - Wireless Bridging/iTunes Home Share

Thanks. I understand why they separate the wireless and lan networks on the same router, but I would have thought that when you configure the router to bridge the two internal networks that it would bridge everything and not require you to manuall enable certain protocols. Lesson learned with...

Help - Wireless Bridging/iTunes Home Share

Persistance. I figured it out. I found that Multicasting is required for Apple products and applications and it was disabled on the router for WLAN to LAN. Once I enabled it and added a firewall rule for WLAN > LAN traffic, everything was golden.

Help - Wireless Bridging/iTunes Home Share

I’m having a problem with the wireless to LAN bridging on my Sonicwall TZ-210W. Right now, the WLAN and LAN are bridged. For the most part, everything works fine. Wireless clients receive an IP that is on the same subnet as the LAN resources and I can access all these resources without an issue...

Intermittent connectivity issues with Windows 7

I’m having intermittent connectivity issues from my new laptop to my NAS. Before I get into the details, here is summary of the components involved. I have a TS-459 Pro II that hosts all of my documents, multimedia and email pst file. My new laptop is a Dell M18x with Windows 7 64 Bit with...

IP Subnet issued for wireless clients

Correct. The wireless client is given a 172.16.31.x gateway address, which is different than the subnet that the NAS is on. The NAS is on the 192.168.1.x subnet. This is the problem. Remember, I can ping the NAS from my wireless laptop and I can I can even connect to it and open files...

IP Subnet issued for wireless clients

I just installed a Sonicwall TZ-210W and found that it uses a different IP range (172.16.31.x) for wireless clients than it does for the LAN clients (192.168.1.x). I could not connect to anything on the LAN from the WLAN until I enabled the WLAN > LAN rule on the router. However, I am still...

    VPN/Security questions

I'm not looking for a low cost router. I'm looking for one that fits all of my needs and I'm willing to pay for that functionality - within reason. I am interested in hearing back from "tiggins" on the advantages of the VPN solution - specifically, the client vs. clientless based options.

    VPN/Security questions

Good feedback. A few things…don’t you gain a certain level of security with a VPN by blocking port access at the firewall rather than allowing someone past it and an opportunity to probe around for listening applications and then attempting to authenticate? I’m just wondering if there is any...

    VPN/Security questions

Before I start, let me say that I’m a novice when it comes to building networks and even more so when it comes to VPN’s, so please bear with me. I currently have a QNap NAS, Desktop and a variety of other devices connected to my home network and I would like to securely access their content...

QNAP 459 Pro II RAM Upgrade

You realize that QNap has their own dedicated community forum for questions like this. It's http://forum.qnap.com/index.php. Give it a shot. Just curious, but why do you want to upgrade the RAM? I have the same Qnap model and haven't found a need to do so.
