I'm only doing factory reset via the GUI. I haven't done any nvram erase yet (just restore) Also, I updated to 378.55 to check and 5ghz wifi works (and indeed I have a lot more options for the control channels) All values are also as posted above.

I live in Japan and the router was bought in Japan as well. I haven't modified the router either: simply running the custom firmware.

I tried updating to 27E5 again and this time, made sure to: - save my settings with nvram-save (r26) - reset to factory defaults - update to 27E5 - reset to factory defaults - clean restore nvram settings along with reboots whenever asked. However, still the same results: 5ghz wifi not...

That's a shame. I wish there was an option to be able to choose the behaviour. I tried to scan for networks right after the factory reset: only the default 2.4ghz "ASUS" ssid was visible, the 5ghz "ASUS_5G" one was not. After that I uploaded my settings using the web interface - I didn't see...
