    OpenVPN difficulties

Hey przemekwawa, Thanks for the response. I am using UDP and it does appear that OS X 10.8.5 is having an issue with a TUN interface. I'll do more testing and report back. Is PPTP a good option?

    OpenVPN difficulties

OK success, I have been able to log in and see the network volumes easily. I just changed from TAP to TUN on advice from a thread here. The performance is a little bit slow. What kind of disk read/write performance should one expect? Is PPTP suggested for performance and reducing overhead?

    OpenVPN difficulties

Hey all, I have tried to get VPN working in the past and have let it beat me. This week will be different. I am trying to get an OpenVPN implementation going as I want the encryption but at this point would take any kind of connection that I could use SMB through. I can connect to it via...

Is the RT-N66U capable of playback (.WAV) over VPN

TAP vs. TUN Going to test again in TAP mode. I guess I got so excited once I had a connection in TUN mode I forgot to test the other option. Is TAP the generally agreed upon preferred method?

Is the RT-N66U capable of playback (.WAV) over VPN

It is a network attached machine that you have to connect to through VPN. It's a local connection that I am trying to bring to those working abroad. I will look into Samba connections.

Is the RT-N66U capable of playback (.WAV) over VPN

CPU Load Thanks netware! The load is only ever reaching 26% on the processor while receiving about 120kb/s of data. I haven't seen any spikes that would warrant the slow speeds. QoS is disabled and really no fancy services are enabled. I will look at the encryption settings. But...

Is the RT-N66U capable of playback (.WAV) over VPN

It's not the uplink Thanks Ford! The only issue is the server also does some FTP serving via HTTPS. Does the DMZ leave the computer open to attacks? It sounds like it's no-man's land. The reason for avoiding HTTPS is that I need to actually mount the volume for the software to see it and...

Is the RT-N66U capable of playback (.WAV) over VPN

Hello, I am trying to give users access to sounds via VPN. The bitrate and size of these sounds is rather large and the format has to be preserved. I was using SMB at home locally but found that using the RT-N66u as an OpenVPN server (with a SuSE Raid SMB server) was not really getting the...

    OpenVPN Configuration Problem

THANKS ALL for the advice It seems it was actually subnet conflicts. I changed my home net over to a different subnet and suddenly computers were reachable by IP. I did not check DNS. The issue was that when I was trying to reach an IP that matched the local subnet I think my local DHCP server...

    OpenVPN Configuration Problem

side note Network subnets are the same on both sides. I'm going to change my home network topology first since it is much smaller and this is still just testing but I don't really feel convinced that it will solve my issue. But I will try.

    OpenVPN Configuration Problem

Hey all I tried TAP as well as TUN set the WINS server as the router under LAN and SMB. The SMB share is from a network machine not the router itself. I can get NetBIOS names across the VPN but no connection to the machines. Without Merlin I recall this being a lot easier though. I can't...

    OpenVPN Configuration Problem

TAP I can see the machines through DNS but can't connect to them. That edit to smb.cnf in /etc/ had no effect. I would like to put together a blog post on how to do this once all is said and done. I tried using TAP as well but had the same difficulty, this is a new flash of merlin most recent...

    OpenVPN Configuration Problem

UPDATE: I can connect now via openvpn and the config file, it is an elegant answer to my confusion with certs. I am unable to see my samba shares though through this connection as well. How can I see the local network on a mac?

    OpenVPN Configuration Problem

I am able to connect via PPTP but cannot connect to Samba shares on the remote network. DNS is working but none of the SuSE SMB machines can be connected to in OS X 10.8.5. I would rather get OpenVPN working for security. I just can't get my head around what I need to do to move the certs to...
