Offical ASUS RT-AC88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.2345

Do we need to reset the router after this firmware update?

RT-AC68P (with upgraded CPU, NOT R or U)

Thanks. I suspect the same (that Asus increased power levels to match the latest FCC standards, just as they did on the 87U), but I would like confirmation before I upgrade from a N66U.

RT-AC68P (with upgraded CPU, NOT R or U)

Can we tell whether there is any difference in transmit power as compared to the previous model?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.47 is out

I haven't tried resetting my router since I uppraded from 376.45 to 376.47, but... It looks like the infamous Wireless Mac Filter bug has returned. Once I enabled the Wireless Mac Filter, I am unable to disable it and I cannot add additional wireless devices. I've tried Chrome, Firefox, and...

Higher Power Now Allowed For 5 GHz Wi-Fi

Is there a list of wireless routers that currently implement the new higher power levels at 5Ghz? Tim - This (implementation of higher power at 5Ghz) might be something you mention in future wireless router reviews.

When will ASUS AC3200 be released?

Thanks. I am well aware of the theoretical benefits of each platform, thanks to Tim's excellent article on the subject. What I would like to see is a comparison of the actual (i.e., real world) benefits of each platform under a variety of different equipment scenarios.

    NETGEAR Debuts AC3200 Nighthawk

Thanks Tim. When you review these products, I'll be interested to see whether there are circumstances where a traditional design with one 5GHz radio at full power is preferable to these XStream designs with two 5Ghz radios at lower power.

    AC87 or AC3200

I am more interested in Asus' AC3200 solution. I hope we see that product soon.

When will ASUS AC3200 be released?

Has Asus commented on the expected availability of the RT-AC3200? I am anxious to see a comparison of the RT-AC87R and the RT-AC3200. I'm curious why Netgear chose to prioritize their XStream solution and why Asus chose to prioritize their Quantenna solution.

    MoCA or Powerline? (newb)

There are at least two MoCA 1.1 devices with gigabit Ethernet ports -- Actiontec MI-424WR revisions G and I. All prior versions of the MI-424WR have 100Mbps ports. With MI-424WR revisions I and G, usable MoCA throughput is 18 megabytes per second (equivalent to ~150Mbps) through the gigabit...

    Problems Upgrading Firmware N66U

Are you upgrading using a wired connection to the router? You should never upgrade over wireless.

    A MoCA speed comment

I have two MoCA 1.1-based Actiontec MI-424WR Rev. I routers bridged over coax. This MoCA router has gigabit wan and ethernet ports. I see 135-140Mbps usable (17.0-17.5 MBps) in each direction with a single client over MoCA.

MoCA 2.0 and MoCA 1.1 interoperability

I realize your response specifically addressed the Netgear product with a 100Mbps ethernet port. That said, I have two MoCA 1.1-based Actiontec MI-424WR Rev. I routers bridged over coax. This router has gigabit wan and ethernet ports. I see 135-140Mbps usable (17.0-17.5 MBps transfers) in...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.246.20 is out

There appears to be a bug with the wireless MAC filters in 3.0.0.4.246.20. Try adding several MAC filters with computer names to a 2.4GHz network. In two instances, between router resets, I experienced a glitch whereby the router refused to accept/display new wireless MAC filter entries. I...
