    Misleading router ranking

I used to pick my routers based on ranking, but no more. While the test are excellent and in depth they miss one important aspect, real world usage scenarios which, understandably, is difficult to do in the lab. In the case of Netgear R7000 which I used for a year, I have to say I wouldn't rate...

Linksys WRT1900AC AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router Review

Not much performance gain, expensive, fan... What's the point? R7000 with dd-wrt, cheaper and faster.

    Beta 374.501

I would revisit it again right before the release of the next model. Perhaps, they'll stabilize the firmware by then.

    Beta 374.501

Bought the router yesterday thinking that by this time they should solve most troubles that were plaguing it at the time of the release. Everything seemed to work perfectly even after I upgraded to latest beta. I was actually amazed how stable it seemed and excellent performance. The next...

Best non-asus alternative to the RT-N66U?

If I look at 5 top ranked routers and first three are AC66, N66, N56. I've tried/owned all three based on reviews here and had nothing but frustration with Asus firmware and their range. This site might not be paid by Asus, but I don't understand why Asus is constantly rated on top. They may...

Best non-asus alternative to the RT-N66U?

This site reviewer seems to be biased towards Asus routers, and I made a mistake owning one based on the review. I haven't been able to find more reliable and with excellent performance & range then R6300. I might give a shot RT-AC68U, but I think I will be disappointed, just like with every...

    Rt-ac68u

Did they say when it will be released?

    Rt-ac68u

Will be getting it as soon as it's out. We'll see how it stacks up against wonderful R6300.

NETGEAR R6300 WiFi Router-802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit Reviewed

I agree and for average user all this technical info is too much and what I discovered doesn't reflect real world experience. I used to buy routers based on reviews, but now I just have to test them all to see which one works best. So the rating for R6300 is very deceptive and if I didn't know...

Wow, that was quick. Thanks! Is Dlink 868L test in the horizon?

NETGEAR R6300 WiFi Router-802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit Reviewed

Perhaps you should considering retesting this router. After a few firmware releases it shows much better performance (at least for N clients). I've compared it to Asus RT-AC66U and Dlink 868L alternatives which are not as good.

NETGEAR R6300 WiFi Router-802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit Reviewed

There is a Performance Boost option now available with latest firmware in the Advanced > Wireless settings which may explain why I had better results.

NETGEAR R6300 WiFi Router-802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit Reviewed

Looks like only guest network fix, tested download speeds and in the initial run I see some improvements. The download test went up from 10-12 MB/sec to 17-19 MB/sec. Using as usual 5Ghz band with no other clients connected: NAS -> Mini 17-19 MB/sec, Mini -> NAS 4-5 MB/sec. About 4-5 meters...

NETGEAR R6300 WiFi Router-802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit Reviewed

Well, I've been messing...err testing with RT-N56U vs R6300 using Intel 6200 client card (v 15 drivers) in Envy 14 laptop and Synology NAS DS 211+ and I just could not get better results with RT-N56U in my usual download tests from NAS using mainly 5Ghz band. Even after resetting the router...

NETGEAR R6300 WiFi Router-802.11ac Dual Band Gigabit Reviewed

Thank you Tim for your review and mentioning that your test results don't reflect my experience. I am on day 5 with R6300 and it's still delivering the range and speeds (in 5Ghz band) that N56 was never able to achieve using the same client card Intel 6200. Btw, my primary test location is...
