Asuswrt: Schedule 2.4GHz Main Wi-Fi to Turn Off but Keep Guest Network Active

Yeah, exactly. That’s why I set up a guest network — I only want to disable the main network, not the whole radio. But in ASUSWRT’s GUI the toggle is basically hard-coded, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to just bring down a specific interface instead of shutting off the entire wireless radio.

Asuswrt: Schedule 2.4GHz Main Wi-Fi to Turn Off but Keep Guest Network Active

I don’t think it makes sense to take the comparison all the way to cutting electricity or water — those are completely different in nature. What I’m trying to figure out is a more reasonable way to save power, protect the hardware, and reduce unnecessary exposure. Keeping it running all night...

Asuswrt: Schedule 2.4GHz Main Wi-Fi to Turn Off but Keep Guest Network Active

So I’m thinking of a different approach — is it possible to bring down just the main 2.4 GHz SSID instead of disabling the entire 2.4 GHz band?

Asuswrt: Schedule 2.4GHz Main Wi-Fi to Turn Off but Keep Guest Network Active

It’s just to reduce the attack surface at night, for privacy and hardware protection. I’m not using it when I’m asleep, so I don’t really see why it has to stay on.

Asuswrt: Schedule 2.4GHz Main Wi-Fi to Turn Off but Keep Guest Network Active

Hi everyone, I want to schedule the 2.4GHz main Wi-Fi to automatically turn off during certain hours. However, I noticed that when the scheduled time comes, not only the main network shuts down, but the Guest network also gets disabled. My goal is: turn off the main 2.4GHz Wi-Fi while keeping...

How to let certain HDDs sleep but keep Entware/Swap drive awake

Hi all, I’m running an RT-AC86U with ASUSWRT and have a couple of USB HDDs connected. What I’d like to do is: Let most of the drives spin down / go to sleep when idle. Keep one specific drive always active, because it hosts Entware and also a Swap file. The problem: ASUSWRT’s built-in USB...

    Router's GUI missing elements

Quick checklist: Is HTTPS access enabled? Some browsers or misconfigured settings may block HTTP content from loading within an HTTPS session. Have you installed any third-party plugins? Certain plugins can interfere with the web UI, preventing elements from loading properly under HTTPS. Have...

Skynet Blocklist installation skynet, New to forum and Asus routers. Need Guidance.

You’ll need to configure Skynet directly through SSH. If you installed it via AMTM, just type amtm in your SSH session—there’ll be on-screen prompts guiding you through how to access and set up Skynet. That said, I personally don’t recommend using Skynet. From what I’ve seen, it adds blocklists...

Static ARP Binding Causes False Wired Connection Status in WebUI

Hi everyone, I’ve encountered a strange issue after configuring static ARP binding on my device: The bound device is not actually connected — I’ve confirmed this via SSH (checking the connection list and DHCP leases). However, the WebUI briefly shows the device as “wired connected” even...

Router keeps crashing and rebooting continuously

My AiProtection and Parental Control are in a semi-enabled state. The former only has the non-malicious website blocking option enabled, and the latter has a scheduled offline mode. The results I found for the second and third issues are similar to what you mentioned—most suggest ignoring the...

Router keeps crashing and rebooting continuously

Yes, but I later removed Skynet and kept only amtm and LED SWITCH CONTROL. All the features you mentioned earlier are disabled. I have retained AiProtection and the SAMBA service on USB. I haven’t tried a factory reset yet. I don’t fully understand the contents of the logs. Could you help...

Router keeps crashing and rebooting continuously

I understand! However, I am currently unable to determine the exact cause. Previously, my AC86U router's temperature ranged between 158-194°F without a fan, but after adding a fan, it stabilized around 138-144°F. The memory usage at idle is about 70%-80%. If I enable Samba, the available RAM...

Router keeps crashing and rebooting continuously

Hello, My AC86u router has been randomly restarting recently, with consistently high CPU usage. It only has the amtm's LED SWITCH CONTROL installed and an OPENVPN service running. I have noticed many kernel errors in the logs. The log is provided below. **Info:** - System: 386.13.2 Merlin -...

Skynet Skynet causes router to crash and reboot

Hello everyone, I am a new user of the Skynet firewall and have been using it for a while now. I find it very useful for blocking unwanted domains and IP addresses. However, I’ve encountered a few issues and would appreciate any help or advice. Slow firewall rule loading: Every time I start...
