    Personal AC87 saga

I've now had two of them, bought in sealed packaging from Best Buy. During both trials, the router was propped up on top of some old HDDs sitting vertically to allow for greater air flow. Here's a diagram of my network: The first exhibited the dreaded 5GHz issues most here seem to have. It...

    Strange bandwidth usage meter

Wanted to add to this, the download speeds were abysmal, so I signed up for Private Internet Access (VPN) and set up the OpenVPN client on the router. I'm on AT&T U-Verse. The speeds improved drastically, and a game that had 9 hours left to download suddenly changed to a 90-minute job.

    Strange bandwidth usage meter

My PS4 is downloading a game from the Playstation Network, and the bandwidth meter shows somewhat symmetrical upstream and downstream bandwidth use on the WAN. Is this a bug, or is it something deeper in the way Sony delivers game downloads?

What's the 'state of the union' on the AC87 / AC3200 stability these days?

I took my RT-AC87R back to Best Buy this afternoon and got another one, just in case the first one I bought was faulty. Time will tell, I'm using firmware 3.0.0.4.378_5134 for now (latest stable). If I experience any more issues, I'll try Merlin's FW, since it sounds like most of you have...

What's the 'state of the union' on the AC87 / AC3200 stability these days?

I've had the AC87 for about a week now. The 5GHz clients were losing signal strength and were unable to connect to anything occasionally, and this was on the latest stable firmware (3.0.0.4.378.5134). I installed the beta firmware (3.0.0.4.378.6117) and those problems mostly ceased, but I also...

Purchasing a router mainly for QoS

Could you dump your mangle and QoS info here? I'm curious as to how yours might differ from mine.

Purchasing a router mainly for QoS

Don't buy Mikrotik if you expect reliability and predicable behavior. I have a RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN and I had to find a script on a 3rd party website for QoS in a home network situation. It would randomly decide which was more important, bittorrent traffic or http. We had frequent problems...

    RT-AC87R 5GHz issues

Hi all, New to the forum, but have done a few searches and turned up some information on issues with the 5GHz band. I just want to make sure that what I'm experiencing is the same thing others have... - Connected devices do not lose signal completely, but signal indicator on devices drop a...
