How to jail VPN on a router?

Running openvpn in a chroot jail is possible on merlin's firmware. It's not necessary to install entware or optware. Support for chroot environments are provided in the kernel. In addition, openvpn has been written to support chroot environments. I've been running openvpn in a chroot...

    DNSSec disabled in asuswrt-merlin build

Hi, After setting up dnscrypt on my rt-ac68u, I've noticed several dnscrypt servers also support DNSSec. However, I noticed that the build of dnsmasq on my asuswrt-merlins v378.53_0 doesn't support DNSSec: # dnsmasq --dnssec dnsmasq: DNSSEC not available: set HAVE_DNSSEC in src/config.h I...

    Dnscrypt from opendns

When the wan-start script runs dnscrypt-proxy, the config file /jffs/configs/dnscrypt-resolvers.csv is passed to dnscrypt-proxy. There is no need to pass dnscrypt keys as they are referenced in the config file. Only the dnscrypt provider's name needs to be passed along with the config file. The...

    Dnscrypt from opendns

Just copy the binary to the directory /jffs/bin/ . If the directory doesn't exist, just create it with "mkdir /jffs/bin/".

    Dnscrypt from opendns

Hi all, Just thought I'd shared my wan-start script as I've now compiled and installed dnscrypt on my rt-ac68u and got it working with two dns providers. The wan-start script below doesn't use hard-coded ntp servers and doesn't update /jffs/ either. Rather, it updates /etc/hosts directly using...

    Thinking of buying RT-AC87 ...

Here in Oz, the RT-AC87U seems to be already available: http://www.cplonline.com.au/asus-rt-ac87u-dual-band-ac2400-wireless-router-rt-ac87u.html It's listed for AUD 339, which seems quite expensive for a router. lol, Sanke! I bet we'll see VMWare VSphere or Workstation running on...

    Thinking of buying RT-AC87 ...

Thanks, Adamm for your reply. It's good to know both features are supported. However, is the ipset feature part of the L7 filter? If so, then it looks like ipset won't work on the RT-AC87, as per Rmerlins statement. Can this be confirmed?

    Thinking of buying RT-AC87 ...

Hi, I've been a long-time lurker here and generally find the information very useful. I'm thinking of upgrading my old D-Link DIR-655 to an Asus RT-AC68 or RT-AC87. Whichever one I get will have Merlin's build put on it (Thanks heaps, RMerlin, for your great work!). There's really two key...
