Thanx a lot for your reply :)
Last stupid question : is it preferable to unplug the mini when not using the Ethernet, so that the logs don't get filled up with those warnings ? I haven't counted them, but my guess is more than a hundred a day.
Thanx again for your feedback:)
Hello,
So I have a RT-BE88U and my Mac mini running MacOS 26.3 Tahoe is filling my log with this error :
It's when my mini goes to sleep. There is nothing I can do so far. I have to unplug the cable to end these warnings.
Is there an option somewhere in the router's configuration to dismiss...
Do you mean that the problem that I have with my network is a well known bug with the Mac mini ? I've searched quite a bit and I haven't found anything like my problem.
You're right, it seems it's the mini's fault. I didn't want to start over with the Sequoia OS, people are saying it's a bug with Tahoe. I try to avoid the Ethernet USB dongles, they take one USB port and this mini doesn't have many. I've tried the WiFi connection and I'm surprised, it's as good...
Well I wanted to return the router to Amazon because of all the drops I have with my Mac mini, but Amazon offered me a 10% refund on the router. I think it's a pretty good deal, right ? I'll wait till there is a new firmware and hope that my ethernet connection problem is solved.
@kuchkovsky ...
Well, it would seem that the problem lies with macOS Tahoe. I've brought my mini to an Apple Center. They changed the motherboard but the problem hasn't changed. The network between my Mac mini and the RT-BE88U is still flapping, dropping to 100MB and going back to 1GB, doing so every 5 seconds...
Didn't change a thing. Same errors again.
I ordered a 1m Cat8 cable, will get it tomorrow. We shall see.
Seems lots of people have errors with their Ethernet connexions and Mac minis...
Mmmh... Might be this is happening when the mini goes in and out of sleep... :
Hello,
I manually configured the Mac mini, I fixed the port to 1000BT, Full Duplex, it was fine for a little one then
I think I found the cause. There is an option when you configure the Ethernet on a Mac mini : Mode AVB EAB. It seems it might cause some disconnections on some network ...
Hello again :)
Well you were right, it was due to a faulty cable (it seems). Weird because it was a brand new 1m cable...
-> @degrub I moved the cables and found the faulty cable. I didn't do that before because I really didn't think that this brand new short cable could be faulty...
->...
Hello,
Did all that. The router is new, so I would hope the ports are ok. I switched the cables (I couldn't chance them they are too long and glued on the wall.
From my laptop I kept pinging an outside site, no loss.
I would love to know which port is ethernet 9...
