    RT-AC68U - 3.0.0.4_378.50 Firmware - CFE modified

You flashed the cfe to the wrong device. pmon is only valid for mips (66u etc.) and not arm (68U etc.) Be thankful you didn't brick your router and in the future use boot for arm devices.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

TA issue with OpenVPN I have two identically configured AC68Ps the only difference being that one is an OpenVPN TAP client and the other is the server. TA on the 68P with the running OpenVPN client works fine. TA on the server side never shows any data.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

Could it be that Asus is implementing the multicast DNS standard? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.local

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 is out

As per your post - will you enable FA on the 68P in the future? It's currently disabled.

2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bandwidth change

How do you measure you laptop speed? By default the speed will drop when the laptop's connection is idle and increase when it's in use -- when you first turn on your router it is in use while connecting to the router and will not go into idle mode until few min later.

Asus RT-AC68U and Asus RT-AC87U best settings as "access point"

Make it simple - use 2.4GHz for all legacy and 5.0GHz for all high perf connections. You're also didn't specify which channels you use on both. You might experiment with those depending on what site survey shows you. And finally disable IGMP snooping - it's too smart for its own good if you...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 2 is out

Ok, that makes sense. Would it be possible to run sending (including encryption) on one core and receiving (including decryption) on the other core?

ASUS 68U - OK to install latest Merlin?

For me the biggest reason are all the security fixes including but not limited to the heartbleed bug in OpenSSL.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 2 is out

Possible regression in encryption code? OpenVPN in Beta1 used to be distributed accross both CPU cores on my AC68P. Now one core sits at 95% the other at 20% when the VPN interface is in use.

AC68U and AC68P max power levels?

That's combined from all 7 transmitters (3x 2.4GHz and 4x 5GHz) which comes out to 21.5dBm per transmitter.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 2 is out

Small bug when AC66U is configured in bridge mode - enabling bridge mode via 5G shows the 2.4G name in the UI from when AC66U was a router even though in bridge mode 2.4G is disabled and non-existent.

AC68U and AC68P max power levels?

Can someone help me understand max power levels in those routers? According to Tim's excellent AC68P review the AC68P has the SiGE 5023L 5GHz power amp and the AC68U has the SiGE 5003L1 power amp. When looking at the spec sheets of 5023L and 5003L1 respectively the output power of those is...

At what point do you just stop upgrading Merlin FW?

I had no choice but to get 68p. I have an OpenVPN bridge setup between two houses that's used to share TV and media. With the 68p I get an average of 60% with spikes to 80% of CPU usage across both cores when using the full 50Mbits/sec FIOS bandwidth. With 66U I was limited to 14Mbits/sec and...

    [CLOSED] Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 1 is out

Anyone successful in mounting CIFS shares with the beta firmware? I'm getting the error "Cannot allocate memory" from the mount command when trying to mount CIFS share.

Windows Server 2012 r2 Domain Controller

What does your network topology look like? Are both - your clients and your windows server on the LAN side of the router? Or is your router in-between? (I'm trying to understand why you're changing the router's firewall)
