is there anyway to force a device to the router?
my PC always connects to the satellite, even though it's halfway across the house and the router is just across the room
even if when i ssh into both the router and the satellite,
and turn the satellite's tx power down,
eventually my PC will...
thanks, is there a way to increase the timeout length if i'm logged into the device page?
example: http://192.168.1.1/DEV_show_device.htm
after about 1min it asks me to log back in
i think the Orbi app requires a NetGear account, which is different from the credentials used to login via browser (192.168.1.1)
at least that's how i use the Orbi app
also, you may need to disable 2.4ghz or force 5ghz on w/e devices you want to use 5ghz
that's what i had to do for devices...
do i need to do something special to scp a file onto the router?
it looks like the scp command is available on both the router and my local machine, but i get:
bash: scp: not found
lost connection
does anyone else explicitly set the txpower of their router/sat via telnet?
i usually customize these values to prevent my router from hogging the devices that are literally right next to the sat, but i can't set txpower on any of the 5ghz bands anymore
i usually set 5ghz txpower with...
my satellite behaves the same way. the name is "Unknown" so i usually just identify them by the internal IP address, which i have set statically for most of my devices
i think the issue might be that i literally turned my RBR/RBS off and then on, rather than initiating a reboot command through telnet?
i'll try when i get home
thanks
@Voxel
i tried to separate my SSIDs via:
nvram set wla_ssid="NAME OF YOUR 5GHZ NETWORK"
nvram set allow_diff_ssid=1
nvram commit
when i reboot my router, the settings are erased. does this method still work? if not, is it still possible to separate SSIDs?
thanks
thanks voxel! you breathed new life into my routers the last few years and saved me a bunch of money. wish i was smart enough to understand half of what you do, haha
2 things i changed that helped me:
1.) i disabled HT160. it caused my connection to drop when downloading with internet download manager. no idea why that was the only program that caused problems with HT160
2.) i changed MTU size from 1500 to 1472. I went from one or two 20 second disconnects...
