    I have and asus RT-N66U running merlin which I have openvpn setup via which I turn on my server using the routers WOL once I have the VPN connected, this works flawlessly everytime remotely, however, it seems to time out if the server is not switched on for sometime and having had a read around...

    dont think it is an improper shutdown, windows is not to blame as it does not exist on the hardware, it is an UNraid server, i have acess to it via a VPN, i powered it down myself last night via the UNraid web GUI but it wont start up via WOL again.

    'improper shutdown' would seem to coincide with the UNraid server performing a parity check upon someone physically starting it up for me.     here is the sys.log from router after i am not able to get in remoteley, i can access fine from inside my network.....can anyone find anything in there that i need to address..if i reboot the router i will be able to access remotely once again.

    Router was doing it before I even turned on openvpn. Had the same issue with rt-n16 except I threw out a message saying the settings have changed reconnect the to the network with updated ip address and port. I'm not exactly sure how i go about what your trying to explain to me to do.

    Ip changes once a month maybe...I have it set to update every hour, my isp is quite lenient, a reboot of the router remedies the issue but after some time it locks out again... its fine from within the network
