    Thanks for the reply. As I said I was putting the 255.255.255.254 in the subnet mask not the IP. In the IP address I was putting 213.xxx.xxx.xxx as supplied by my isp. My isp supplied 255.255.255.254 as the subnet mask address. I have manged to get the problem sorted out now.
