    Why would I acutally need to configure DDNS? Is this to get remote access to my router? Or could that simply be done setting up an OpenVPN server I can connect to from my clients?     Unfortunatly doing it this way, the portforwardings to the NAS no longer seem to work when the vpn client is active.

    Thanks for pointing out. Indeed ping uses ICMP protocol. Seems to work after all when I check using wget. Maybe I'll checkout using vpn client on the router instead of Synology, since vpn connection on syno is not so reliable.
