    Why would I acutally need to configure DDNS? Is this to get remote access to my router? Or could that simply be done setting up an OpenVPN server I can connect to from my clients?     Thanks for pointing out. Indeed ping uses ICMP protocol. Seems to work after all when I check using wget. Maybe I'll checkout using vpn client on the router instead of Synology, since vpn connection on syno is not so reliable.
