The latest firmware 39061 listed 1 of the bug fixes for my BE92U was:
" Fixed main network connectivity issue when enabling IPv6 for both the main network and Smart Home Master."
I wonder if it's related to the ipv6 client problem here. I haven't updated mine yet.
How did you notice/quantify "overall stability improved"? I'm still running firmware 38980. My uptime was over a month since last time I manually rebooted and I have never lost stability so I have been holding out the update. The only minor glitch was that all my devices in a guest network also...
Thanks for the reply. I'm running 38980 and I don't have any problem except that all devices on a particular wifi guest network also listed in another wifi guest network as clients. I'll give it a try without a hard reset as there are lots of settings that I hate to have to reenter manually...
I already knew that my ISP supports ipv6. As I said, I could ping ipv6.google.com from the router and it got an ipv6 address. Just not from local computer.
Thanks again! Appreciate it. I searched and read and tried to see what the differences are between GNP and SHM but beside that GNP can map wired LAN ports and has guest network portal, I'm not sure what else. Anyway, yes, so far, all I need is to isolate several Wifi networks for home use (3 GN...
Thank you all! I got it now. In the Network->Adv settings->Manually. While Network->adv settings->dnsserver is for the whole network.
I wanted to assigned to a single device so I can test out OpenDns. Thank you again for the help!
Thanks. What I was confused was that my devices from different guest networks (192.168.50.x, 192.168.52.x, 192.168.53.x etc...) all showed up under that LAN->DHCP page with DNS as "default" and each individual IP can be edited but then I got "invalid IP" when clickec on OK.
Yes, clients are on different guest networks. Yes, it worked by assigning openDNS for the whole guest network, but I thought we can assign it on a single IP from LAN->DHCP where the device IP are listed (with DNS originally set to default.)
Thanks for the reply. The top part said 192.168.50.2 to 254. The list show different IP from different subnets from the different networks. Am I supposed to change the starting/Ending address together with the assignment to that ip?
Hi all, I'm not sure what I did wrong. I tried to set opendns as dns for a single ip so I went to LAN->DHCP->Manual Assign IP around DHCP, selected the ip of the device from the list, click on 'edit' and enter the ip of opendns in the 'dns server' field (it was 'default') then click 'OK'. It...
Thank you! Appreciate the help! For now, I'm ok with separate guest networks with different VLAN/subnets but I'll probably get another router soon. Appreciate the pointers very much!
