Network printer no longer available after activating Guest networks

Sorry for the typo and brain fart. You are correct, and I edited the post. I was trying to get the point across that the narrowest bandwidth is best for range. at the expense of speed. My brain was out to lunch for my last post.

Network printer no longer available after activating Guest networks

For me, it's under the wireless settings, select 2.4 GHz, then find "Channel bandwidth"; I have a choice between 20 and 40, so I chose 20 MHz. If you don't care about maximum speed on that channel, I'd advise choosing the narrowest bandwidth. If you ever need better range in the 5 GHz band, you...

Network printer no longer available after activating Guest networks

Maybe my experience will help... I only use the 2.4 GHz band for home automation devices, so I don't care about speed. So, when I was having troubles due to interference from neighbors, I set that band to the narrowest bandwidth I could, which reduces speed but increases range. Looking at the...

Do you guys feel any difference between AX86U and Pro?

I always thought of those flags as more of a informational warning, in case you're unaware of possible problems; if I know what it is and why, I ignore them. I would never consider not doing something just because of a warning - like open ports, for example. Is there a reason to really worry...

Bandwidth limiter for guest network slowed down entire LAN

I don't know much about details of this, I'm mainly just a stubborn problem solver, so I may be completely off base in my suggestion... but problems I've had always seemed to be either a weak signal or interference from neighbors, mainly for my outdoor Ring camera/light. Since I don't use 2.4...

Solved Where do I find in the GUI menu to change router.asus.com to 192.168.1.1 ?

I'm curious about this feature. I always thought it was just an entry in the router's hosts file. When I used a static DNS address for my desktop, it didn't work and I added it to my desktop's hosts file to make things simpler. I never noticed this setting, but I see it is set to "No", but...

    Block LAN access by MAC?

The OP only asked if there was a way to do something - he didn't ask that code be written especially for him. Your suggestion was helpful, but defending it to the death is kind of sad.

Solved SFTP - Key Only access via FileZilla client to RT-AC68U

I have the AX88U, with the latest firmware. Thanks for the tip about log messages. However, I've now discovered something that has me stumped so far. For my desktop, I have an entry in my hosts file for "router" at 192.168.2.1. If I enter "ssh router" (or "sftp router"), it connects. If I...

Using ASUS AX3000 V2 with USB 3.0 hub

For what it's worth, I have a powered USB hub made by Anker which I bought 3 years ago, at half the current price. It has always worked fine. But I have had several TP-Link products, and they have all worked well.

Solved SFTP - Key Only access via FileZilla client to RT-AC68U

I installed the entware package, and used the command "opkg install openssh-sftp-server" which seems to be successful; if I run it again, it replies "Package openssh-sftp-server (9.0p1-1) installed in root is up to date." I have installed all the keys to make ssh work correctly from all my...

    RT-AC86U Client List not updating

So, just out of curiosity, doesn't a reboot kill these? Or do they just rehang on restart?

Using ASUS AX3000 V2 with USB 3.0 hub

A Rasberry Pi is simply a very small single-board computer, mostly for techies. It comes with an HDMI port for a display, USB ports, networking (wifi, I believe) and runs off a USB power cord. It can run various OSs, including Linux variants. They are pretty popular to use as special purpose...

Solved SFTP - Key Only access via FileZilla client to RT-AC68U

Sorry to barge in on someone else's party... I've been trying to get sftp to work, and have installed the package. If I run that command now, I get: "Package openssh-sftp-server (9.0p1-1) installed in root is up to date." However, it doesn't seem to be running, or perhaps there's more...

Get access to HDD connected to RT-AC87U via SFTP (WAN)

Why is everyone so against ssh? If you disable password login, and use public/private keys, it's pretty secure for anonymous attempts. And if you're worried, you can set a passphrase for the private key, and it protects against even local access. And by the way, if you have an extensive music...

how worried should I be at these suspicious settings?

I've read that this is a false sense of security. But even if it's not, I'd think disabling password login, and only using RSA keys, would stop just about any anonymous attempts. And adding a password to the key would stop someone who got access to your private keys, at least for a little while...
