Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

I think it's another problem. Weird one that I didn't expect. It seems like the AI Mesh router is not giving out anything external, only the AI Mesh nodes. I checked with the Surface when I had that problem last night, and it had all the right info in there, for DNS and all. It pointed to the...

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

OK, I will if this didn't fix it. And the SSID is the same, yeah. The problems normally arises when I go from the big room to the small room wing. Sometimes the Surface insists on connecting to the AI Mesh Client in the big room instead of the mesh router in the far corner of the other wing...

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

Thanks! We enjoy it. 😁 Cable. I have network cables in the ceiling, from when I rebuilt the cabin about 12 years back. 50 mm corrugated tube connects all rooms and all sides of the living room, so it's future proof.

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

I just remembered that I had a drone shot of the cabin and the neighborhood. I have marked in red where the three Asus devices are.

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

Syncronized posting. The cabin is around 11 meters on each of the L sides. One side is a big room without walls, the other side is six small rooms and a corridor. Two of the Asus devices are in opposite corners, the third one is in a waterproof box outside to cover the patio and for the boat to...

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

Weird, in my setup it literally says "Channel bandwith" (in Norwegian). Maybe it's a mistranslation? I set it to 80 and 100, and then we'll see. Thanks for the help so far! I'll be back in a few days to say if it helps.

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

Thanks! There is no congestion, only my own networks. Nearest neighbours only have weak single device networks, and there are not many of them. And the coverage should really be great, I have three RT-AC88U in a cabin that isn't all that big, but L-shaped. I have 2.4 set to 20 already. As for 5...

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

There is no randomization, but I see in the log that there is a bit of this: roamast: eth1: disconnect weak signal strength station [b2:8e:1e:df:fb:2b] roamast: eth1: remove client [b2:8e:1e:df:fb:2b] from monitor list Could it be that I should turn off roaming assistant?

Phone and pc sometimes loses Internet on AI Mesh movement

Weird problem. At my cabin I have identical RT-AC88U devices as both AI Mesh AP (the routing is done by my Windows Server) and AI Mesh nodes. All have the latest Asus firmware, and I set them up anew a couple of months back (I do that every year to keep the system "fresh".) But both before I did...

I need a not too expensive 2.4 gHz outdoors omni antenna for my boat - is the Poynting Puck 12 good?

I see! Then your father is part of the reason we are stinking rich here now! 😁 Thank you!

I need a not too expensive 2.4 gHz outdoors omni antenna for my boat - is the Poynting Puck 12 good?

Yeah, there were good times for cod fishing a few decades ago. Now it's not as good. Too much fishing and a warmer sea has made the catch much rarer. Btw you studied at NTH, then?

I need a not too expensive 2.4 gHz outdoors omni antenna for my boat - is the Poynting Puck 12 good?

Actually that's my spare I tested with. The one I have in the boat has the USB card inside a waterproof box, and the exposed parts of the antenna outside the box are covered with shrink tube. So that is not a problem. But still I would think that the puck would give a better result than around...

I need a not too expensive 2.4 gHz outdoors omni antenna for my boat - is the Poynting Puck 12 good?

I tested it with both the AP, my phone and my Dell Windows computer, and the difference three rooms away with four walls in between was so small and inconsistent that there is no point in using this. This antenna, which came with the USB network card, gave almost the same result: Positive...

I need a not too expensive 2.4 gHz outdoors omni antenna for my boat - is the Poynting Puck 12 good?

I have the antenna here now, and I figured the best way of testing it would be long range. I can do that from the cabin with the antenna mounted temporarily. But what would be the best test, a wifi scanner app for the phone, or using an asus router set up as a range extender and check the signal...

I need a not too expensive 2.4 gHz outdoors omni antenna for my boat - is the Poynting Puck 12 good?

I can use pole, or I can drill through the roof and put the antenna anywhere I want to up there. The nice thing with having an aluminum boat is that if you mess up, you just leave a short bolt in there, and nobody ever thinks: "What is that doing there?" 😁 As for retirement, I have more time...
