    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.20287

No issues here on PPPoE, besides the "update in progress" loop when opening the Administration-Firmware update tab.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.20287

I confirm this issue, a reboot seems to fix it at least for some time, then it returns. I'll try to see if checking for a newer version triggers this odd behavior.

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

Restored factory settings. BTW, newest official branch, 384, it's a big improvement. Gigabit speeds on PPPoE are now around 700 Mbps with Ai Protection enabled. Still not as it used to be (900+ Mbps), but definitely a step forward.

[Beta 382] Asuswrt-Merlin 382.2 Beta is now available

Tried the beta on my AC68U with a PPPoE gigabit connection: same download speed issues introduced with the 382 official branch. With Ai Protection enabled, download speed drops to about 1/4, so I'm going from 900+ Mbps to 200-220 Mbps. Upload speed is not affected, still having the normal 500...

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18881

The router was working just fine with PPPoE up until firmware 380.7743. Then everything went wrong. Now I am not able to use both Ai Protection and gigabit connection, it's either one or another. I am sorry, but this is only Asus' fault and it's a well-known fact that PPPoE was always Asus'...

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18881

I've been reporting these speed issues to Asus support since they were first introduced (firmware 7743). I tested every firmware they released since, sent them comparative tests, even offered to help them beta testing future firmware versions before making them available to general public. What...

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18881

I guess the problem is with PPPoE gigabit connections. This is the third consecutive firmware that has serious PPPoE speed issues.

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18881

Complete POS, Ai Protection still reduces WAN speed to 1/4 on a PPPoE gigabit connection. Avoid at all costs. I really don't understand the reasons Asus keeps releasing these crappy firmware versions. Probably it is their way of saying: F U, guys, time to buy another router, we are killing your...

Except butchering your download speed. :)

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18547

I have been using Ai Protection with all the options enabled since they introduced this feature and never had any problem with download speeds, they were always over 900 Mbps, no matter the firmware used. Firmware 3.0.0.4.380.7743 was the first that introduced these drastic speed drops. However...

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18547

Up until 3.0.0.4.380.7743 for me PPPoE was always reliable and working like a charm.

    [OFFICIAL] RT-AC68U 3.0.0.4.382.18547

Tested it yesterday when the firmware briefly appeared on Asus support page, then tested it again a few minutes ago. It's a complete mess, as the previous official version was, it literally destroys my download speed (PPPoE connection). However, this time the culprit is the Ai Protection engine...

    ASUS RT-AC88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.7743

The issue seems to occur only on PPPoE connections, as I have already pointed out for my AC68U. You'll either stick with the previous official firmware version or use Merlin's latest build, where he reverted BCM6.37's ctf to pre-7743 version as a fix.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.7743

Just tried the WPS method with the most recent firmware, same results, download speed is capped at 250 Mbps.

    ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.7743

Would you, please, give me more details on clearing NVRAM via SSH command? If I remember well, I sort of did this after a factory reset, then restoring my previous settings via NVRAM User Save/Restore Utility, which asks for a NVRAM restore. How will I find the correct command for my model...
