Is it a good or bad idea to split SSIDS?

I moved to split SSIDs recently because my IoTs are really sensitive to needing 2.4 band on setup. No real difference in performance as far as I can tell…

    Surprising results in new setup

I was playing with our network setup last weekend and tried a new configuration that yielded some mildly surprising improvements. While minor, the changes are a reduction in latency 6ms to 3ms on most tests and a Waveform bufferbloat score of A+ instead of an A ( latency under load essentially...

Crazy cool that they’re still supporting this old router. I still use one as a mesh node. Just updated it and will advise if any issues come up…

Release Asus RT-AX86 Series Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388_24231 (11/07/2023)

Just reverted to this version from an older version of Merlin firmware. I’m finding that the newer Merlin firmware has a flaw in there somewhere that causes the router memory to steadily climb and then the router craps out. It could be in this base code too, but I’m willing to try this latest...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

Normal for my router has been 54%… I’m not runny any scripts, so im guessing it is related to the firmware somehow…

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

I had to regress back to the previous version this morning. The issue with memory usage going to 99% reared it’s ugly head again… was making weird things happen on my network… I had this happen with previous releases as well…

RT AX92U firmware upgrade drops connections frequently

The one node that was giving me trouble actually ended up dying. The hardware seems to have an issue. The other 92u node is on 388.1 and is working just fine.

AX86u (Merlin 388.1) suddenly a total mess. Any help?

I was having a lot of these issues, with my AX 86U so I downgraded to 386.7_2. My router was behaving very weirdly for about two weeks (pretty much the whole time I moved to Merlin). Had tried some of the resetting mentioned here, but honestly it didn't seem to do much. The biggest concerns for...

Review / Performance of ASUS WiFi Gaming Mesh Router RT-AC1900P

Hey. Wondering what you ultimately decided? Is it working as you expected? I’m currently running a Frankenstein mix of Asus routers in mesh configuration. Ax 86u as router, AX92u as a node, and AC 1900p as a node. Seems to be working fine. I have the 2nd 92u node that flaked out after the recent...

How to achieve xfinity multi-gig "Gigabit extra" 1200mbps connection

I appreciate your situation and wanting to tinker to pass the time. Last year I experimented with dual wan a bit using AX 86u and a 300mbps fiber connection and a T-Mobile home internet connection that would top out at 690 Mbps download. Ultimately couldn’t get it to work. I kept the Fios...
