    Routing issue via VPN

Hi, wonder if anyone could help. Trying to figure out how to access a remote 4G router connected to my remote ASUS ZenWiFi AC Mini from which I have a OpenVPN connection to my local ASUS ZenWiFi AX. Basically the setup is something like this: Remote 4G router Remote ASUS (VPN Client) Local...

Release Asus ZenWiFi XT8 - New Firmware: 3.0.0.4.386_45898

Upgraded all three units, ethernet backhaul, but where the previous firmware ran for months with no stability issues, this new one starts to loose the two nodes resulting in the led blinking blue. This happened often on older firmware but the one before this latest was very stable. If this...

The Asus ZenWiFi AX XT8 is a POS, right?

I have found the 3.0.0.4.386_43181 to be much better then recent version prior to this. No stability issues whatsoever in a three unit setup with the two nodes on wired backhaul. I do reboot once a week though using the built in reboot feature, which seems to boot both the main router as well as...

    ZenWiFi AX XT8 Firmware 3.0.0.4.386.42095

Yes, after upgrading my two ZenWifi AX nodes went offline despite using Ethernet backhaul. The main ZenWifi AX router continued to work, but slowly (perhaps the DNS issue explained here), but the major problem was obviously the nodes going offline. Downgrading to the previous version (the beta...

ZenWiFi AX Mesh - 2nd 5GHz band on one node shuts down from time to time

Well, I would not like to disable these features in order to get it to work. I have come to the conclusion that this setup is good for roaming between nodes, uninterrupted connections, WiFi calls, online meetings etc. while moving around in th ebuilding. In fact, the missing 5GHz-2 band has no...

ZenWiFi AX Mesh - 2nd 5GHz band on one node shuts down from time to time

Hi, good suggestion, but not as far as I can tell for channel 100.

ZenWiFi AX Mesh - 2nd 5GHz band on one node shuts down from time to time

I run a setup with three ZenWiFi AX routers in a Mesh setup with Ethernet backhaul, i.e. the 2nd 5GHz band is in use for clients. I can see that on one of the nodes, the 2nd 5GHz band shuts down from time to time, where as all other bands and nodes remaining online 100% of the time. If I reboot...

Merlin vs Stock firmware version alignment

6 Yes, was looking for a general answer to keep this interesting to others as well but I run a setup of AC88U and AC68U. I have found that the latest 385.x release is perhaps more stable than the previous stock as well as the latest Merlin so wanted to wait for the corresponding Merlin release...

Merlin vs Stock firmware version alignment

ok, examples are always good. So, I should have referred to the latest Changelog, which contains this: 384.17 (26-Apr-2020) Updating some models (like the RT-AC88U) from stock firmware 3.0.0.4.384_81790 and newer will require a factory default reset after flashing Asuswrt-Merlin, due to a...

Merlin vs Stock firmware version alignment

Yes, I can find the Merlin GPL but my question was about comparing them with stock firmware.

Merlin vs Stock firmware version alignment

@RMerlin , @ColinTaylor , I tried to find the GPL version for the stock firmware, but there are no release notes in the package you download from ASUS. Also the description on the ASUS download page does not mention the GPL version, so not sure how I could compare the GPL of the stock firmware...

Merlin vs Stock firmware version alignment

Tried to find an answer to this on the forum, so my apologies if it is there already. I was wondering what the mapping / alignment is between stock firmware and Merlin, i.e. we have had the 3.0.0.4.385_xxx version of stock firmware for some time, but it seems Merlin is named .384.xx. Does this...

Does the reboot function reboot all Mesh routers?

Yes, not sure if there is any benefit nor drawback from rebooting e.g. every night. Looking at the logs, the scheduled reboot seems to be a controlled shutdown/restart which "feels" better than powering down and the fact that it handles the nodes as well is quite convenient. I set it for 5am...

Does the reboot function reboot all Mesh routers?

I tried this. SSH / uptime shows that the Mesh node does get rebooted with the main router, which is good. Also enabling SSH on the main router, enabled it on the node. In fast, SSH is the only way to get to the node as the Web UI will always redirect you back to the main router.

Does the reboot function reboot all Mesh routers?

Yes, but you cannot access the nodes in a mesh via the admin UI. They redirect to the main router. Perhaps via SSH. I have not tried that.
