    RT-68U loses dns resolution

@OzarkEdge It's been stable ever since the reset (knock on wood!) aside from the glitch on the 28th. Thanks for your assistance!

Sounds like a weekend project, thanks for your advice.

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

Yeah I'm not complaining about the speeds or stability with this connection (it was just absolute garbage when I specifically disabled 11b). Shrug... Mind you everyone just experienced a disconnect and reconnect maybe 10 minutes ago so perhaps it is time to go shopping :-(. Maybe I can look at...

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

I looked at the client info (Windows built in statistics) and it does indicate using 802.11n so I don't think it's actually using b. Are there any more advanced statistics I can pull from the router to see what link protocol it says they're using or can you recommend a more verbose tool I can...

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

@OzarkEdge ah fixed it! When I was resetting the router last night I saw that the 2.4 GHz band had an option to disable 11b (and I know I don't have any 11b devices around) so I figured I'd just check that box... and as soon as I unchecked it everything started working great. I also seem to...

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

@OzarkEdge so I discovered a weird issue since the reset. Every device works fine except my Surface Laptop when on the 2.4GHz network. 5 works fine but the area in the house where I work the signal is poor so I typically use 2.4. Ever since the reset I can barely do anything while on 2.4. DNS...

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

FYI - Reset tonight and reconfigured everything manually. So far so good (everything came back up and is working). Fingers crossed this fixes the issue! But only time will tell.

Alright will do, thank you! I'll post back in a week or so after I've given it time.

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

Sounds good - will try to do that tonight when no one is requiring the internet. Just to be clear, you're recommending just a factory reset (from web gui)? Or are you suggesting more things outside of this?

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

No I haven't reset it (I figured the next time I would do that would be when switching to Merlin but the opportunity hasn't come up yet). It is pretty minimally configured but I guess that wouldn't hurt - the crappy thing is that this doesn't happen every night (it's been twice in the past week...

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

Yeah it doesn't matter what the current DNS settings are (whether it's ISP issued, or something like Google or Cloudflare). It's the toggling the change that fixes it. Oh I have no idea how old it is... maybe 5 years? Here's part of the system log for today (since midnight). We discovered it...

    RT-68U loses dns resolution

Running stock firmware, every so often (usually in the middle of the night ) the router loses the ability to resolve hostnames (either on the client side or directly from the router). What I discovered as a quick fix is toggling the WAN DNS settings to a different set of resolvers. This seems to...
