    Strange DNS Issue w/ RT6600ax

That is the strange part. I can reach the site on every other device in the house, so I know it is not Quad9. It's something in iOS, but I can't figure out what it could be. I'm not doing any filtering on the router.

    Strange DNS Issue w/ RT6600ax

I don't think so. I don't have it enabled on my iOS devices. In networking, Private WiFi address and limit IP address are turned off for this network.

    Strange DNS Issue w/ RT6600ax

I have a strange DNS issue with my network. There is no real impact because I have a workaround and it only affects some devices. ISP: Comcast (Bay Area, CA) Router: Synology RT6600ax DNS: 9.9.9.9 For some reason this configuration has some sort of problem on iOS and iPad OS resolving some...

    Cisco Meraki MX64 Router

I have used Meraki products for businesses when I was a consultant. I think their configuration is top notch and their security and updates can’t be matched. The radios in their APs are excellent. I wouldn’t buy them for the home because I need more throughput than what is available on the low...

CAT5e or CAT6 cable to connect Patch Panel to Switch

Mostly cosmetic. The cable manager makes it easier to hide the extra length of any cables you may have floating around. with a patch panel and a bunch of really short cables it is not much of an issue. However, if you have a bunch of longer cables, the cable managers provide an easy way to hide...

CAT5e or CAT6 cable to connect Patch Panel to Switch

I like patch panels because they are easy to label and read the label. You can label the cables but it won’t be as neat or readable. That being said if you decide to go directly to the switch and still like aesthetics, I would go with a 1u horizontal cable manager above and below your switch...

Help to setup a small LAN network

Have you already bought the unifi? It might make sense to use something without a controller just to make it easier on yourself. The unifi stuff is good in a store it is easier to have WiFi on a router. That way your troubleshooting can be done by anybody in the office and not somebody who needs...

SFP+ Transceiver For Windows 10 Computer

The switch side is always the most troublesome because a lot of switches lock out transceivers that are not branded from the same company. I have had good luck with sfps that list themselves as compatible. In a production environment I would stick with manufacturer sfps but that is largely...

SFP+ Transceiver For Windows 10 Computer

Without getting too long-winded on the compatibility concerns on SFP tranceivers, I would first try to see if a Ubiquiti tranceiver works for you. The driver in Windows is for the chipset on your card, not the tranceiver itself. Most likely your card uses a broadcom chip and you will be fine...

Patch panel and nest router setup

Is the reason you can’t put your nest router in there the size of the enclosure? If you want to keep nest, the easiest way is to replace that enclosure, assuming you have the space. I had a friend who replaced that style enclosure with a network rack cabinet. He cut away around the enclosure so...

bridged router/modem doesnt work with stb

For a bit more detailed setup: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/17734 I never used ATT voice, but was able to connect STBs to the ATT router while using my router in pass through mode with VPN on my router. I used it for remote access to my home lab.

bridged router/modem doesnt work with stb

I believe the nvg has a similar menu layout as the bgw210 and supports the same features. You put your router on dhcp for the wan and can then select the ASUS MAC address on the att router for bridge/Ip pass though. After restarting your ASUS will pick up your art ip. If you connect your stb to...

bridged router/modem doesnt work with stb

Ohh yes. Now I remember. That 3801 had the worst setup. It is possible to get it working using that DMZ plus mode, but I only used that router when I was setting up SMB DSL for people, so STB access was never a problem. When I moved to ATT Internet 75 I think they called it (from comcast), I had...

bridged router/modem doesnt work with stb

I don’t use dmz mode with U-verse. I use bridged mode and select my router to get the wan up from the U-verse modem. Stb connects to U-verse and no problem. Stb needs to get an ip from the U-verse modem for everything to work
