OpenWRT is available for N56U (full support, including both wireless radios)

I made some effort to get the drivers from padavan's firmware into openwrt but got stuck at compilation failure. Don't know what the heck I am doing wrong. If that worked, I am certain the drivers would compile and work. Oh well... I now have Netgear R6300v2. Did not plan on buying it, but the...

OpenWRT is available for N56U (full support, including both wireless radios)

I have been experiencing the same problems, though I am not a heavy wifi user. I have most of my things wired, except for laptops of course so I did not really pay attention to this to be honest. The bug must be in the open-source driver. There is a possibility to compile proprietary ralink...

OpenWRT is available for N56U (full support, including both wireless radios)

openwrt has moved on from uclibc to musl c runtime library and I haven't had time to fix the scripts to build it. For me it fails on libssh build and won't go any further, even with IGNORE_ERRORS set to 1.

The server is up now. No recent builds yet as some core packages fail to build.

OpenWRT is available for N56U (full support, including both wireless radios)

    A) Without HW NAT and your connection you should be fine. HW NAT is really for connections >200 Mbit/s, test and see. You can always go back. B) LuCi may not be as intuitive, but it is very powerful. Usually whatever you may need is found on the internet by just googling. C) Both bands work. As...

OpenWRT is available for N56U (full support, including both wireless radios)

The post you quoted is about a different router N65 and not N56. Don't know why there is less activity here now. I still use this router, and I do compile openwrt trunk once in a while for it, with the link in openwrt wiki for this router. My internet is down until at least July 13th since I...

    N14/N56/N65 QOS UP/DOWN + BFQ with Padavan's F/W builds

This is all good info, but let's not hijack this thread (it is about padavan's firmware after all). People will find this easier if you post in Openwrt thread: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/openwrt-is-available-for-n56u-full-support-including-both-wireless-radios.19096/

    N14/N56/N65 QOS UP/DOWN + BFQ with Padavan's F/W builds

It is very capable router, actually probably the best I have owned so far and much faster compared to broadacom alternatives with a good 5GHz range. Cheers.

OpenWRT is available for N56U (full support, including both wireless radios)

There is no NAT LAN<->WIFI. I get 18MB/s sustained on 5GHz band to my laptop from GoFlex Home on wired gigabit. If it helps this is what I have in my settings: Network -> WiFi -> radio1 (or radio0) -> Advanced Settings Country Code: NO - Norway (it is not my country, but seems to be the least...

    N14/N56/N65 QOS UP/DOWN + BFQ with Padavan's F/W builds

Seems to be fixed in latest trunk builds. Don't know about the stable as I haven't tried it since long time ago. Read the wiki page to make sure you know all the gotchas: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/asus/rt-n56u

I've written a couple of scripts to ease building for different routers. As I said I am on openwrt now and not...

    N14/N56/N65 QOS UP/DOWN + BFQ with Padavan's F/W builds

Well, it is. But the whole point of my builds was to get QOS working, and to do that you have to disable HW-NAT. There is no point in hw-nat unless you have >200Mbit link to the internet. Mine is 25D and 2.5U. Nice phone btw ;)

    N14/N56/N65 QOS UP/DOWN + BFQ with Padavan's F/W builds

Afaik nothing special - just flash and go. Openwrt is just more modular with more software available (without entware/optware). Lets not hijack this thread. Theres a dedicated n56 openwrt thread
