    Guest Wifi VPN - ovpn/wireguard

Thanks @eibgrad, guess I'll continue to use YazFi for this setup (non-pro AX86U). Been pretty frustrated with ASUS recently and will probably switch over to unifi after this.

    Guest Wifi VPN - ovpn/wireguard

Is YazFi still the recommended add-on for guest wifi over VPN? Seems like YazFi has been abandoned, and wondering if there is an alternative script/add-on that can also do wireguard?

    AX68U and AX88U - factory reset itself

Similar issue with an AX68U a couple of days ago. One of my wifi clients was having issues connecting, so I rebooted the router, and the SSID came back with the default ASUS_60 with a password. Doing a fresh install to make sure it wasn't a config issue.

Allow admin web GUI access on another interface (tailscale0)

How do I allow access to the Asus Admin WebUI from a different interface like tailscale0? I currently have Tailscale up and running on my router, and everything is working great - can use it as an exit node, ssh into the router (using the subnet IP and Tailscale address), etc. Only problem is...

Just double checked the file that I uploaded and it seems correct: `RT-AC68U_386.12_6.trx`

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12_6 is now available for AC models

Thanks @Dedel66 I verified the SHA256 for the firmware and it looks good (7a4ba8c403bc2b07235fdc3e7842418b03e357b18d7003f44a53058507547172). I don't have a windows PC, but I'll try to spin up a VM to run the recovery tool. I believe the recovery tool still requires the router to go into...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12_6 is now available for AC models

This latest 386.12_6 update seems to have bricked my RT-AC68U... My main RT-AX86U upgraded successfully with the equivalent update, but my RT-AC68U running as a mesh node seems to have been bricked after the 386.12_6 update and stuck with a solid USB 2.0 LED... Is there any way to recover...

My main RT-AX86U upgraded successfully, but my RT-AC68U running as a mesh node seems to have been bricked with the 386.12_6 update and stuck with the USB 2.0 LED... Any way to recover?

    Mesh node options for rt-ax86u

So it’s better to minimize the overlap of the mesh if using a wired backhaul? Wouldn’t the clients in the middle still suffer from a poor connection if there is less overlap? Wouldn’t something like this be better: |(——————RT-AX86——————)| 2F |{node———[—————}———node]| 1F

    Mesh node options for rt-ax86u

Thanks for the info @L&LD I think cat6 is probably the better deal since it’s practically the same price, but with future proofing to handle up to 10GbE. Majority of the clients are WiFi only, and devices with Ethernet are already at the router (servers, hue bridge, NAS, etc). Also have a...

    Mesh node options for rt-ax86u

Thanks for the help! First floor is 75ft x 35ft. I believe the walls are mostly drywall. I don't think we'd take advantage of the 2.5GbE backend, so standard gigabit should be enough at least until the next router upgrade or wifi7. I'll try moving the AX86 around the first floor to see what...

    Mesh node options for rt-ax86u

Current setup: an RT-AX86U located in the center of the house on the second floor, signal is great in all the rooms upstairs, however, the signal drops off on the first floor and is not even usable in some rooms on the first floor edges of the house. Looking to add some AiMesh nodes to extend...

Help required to run Windscribe in Asuswrt-Merlin 386.3 on a RT-AX88U

Had the same problem on 386.3. But also had the same problem on another router running 386.2_4 It seems like the timing is just a coincidence with the windscribe changes. I was able to get windscribe back up by updating the Certificate Authority from the config...

Repurpose physical buttons to trigger custom scripts

Any chance we can repurpose the physical buttons on the router (LED/WPS,wifi-on/off) to trigger custom scripts or actions? Thanks!

Error on all Apple Devices: “The name of your computer is already in use on this network”

Data point: I only get this issue with YazFi if Client isolation is set to no. 90% of my wifi clients are some type of apple device. Haven't had any issues after changing Client isolation to yes.
