    It's 11th gen Intel Acer laptop, originally came with AX201 that was having issues replaced with AX210 and worked for 9 months, now just yellow bang error 43 and 10 in device manager. I notice no power management tab for the adapter and only Acer power management available in advanced power...

    Since it is running this version of Merlin, could the system log tell if it it working correct? the router is very inexpensive, but I would try the tool first probably, House is being tented for termites today, so nothing for a couple days.

    When I installed this maybe 4 years ago I put Merlin on it, came back to visit and same router software, hard to say what was on it.

    If it works well for the next week, I may leave it alone, otherwise I can always grab a new one locally. i may try the rescue tool, haven't decided, I'll be here a few more days. I didn't know about the rescue tool until latest Merlin was working well

    Yes tried to flash stock Asus, never got it to work, ended up with latest Merlin that is working well.

    yes correct AX58U software, no USB devices, used ethernet cable. ended up with latest Merlin and working okay, router would not take stock Asus, tried many resets always stuck on Merlin

    Tried updating an AX58U with old Merlin software to latest Asus and stuck on Merlin, did factory reset from GUI and reset button, still says Merlin. Wifi not functional and wired LAN working. always says 388_7 is available after reset. Will try the latest Merlin software manually next.

    Unfortunately we went back to the stock Asus firmware and router is stuck on Merlin. 2 factory resets from GUI and reset button and still stuck on Merlin. always says there is an update to 388_7, then stuck on that forever. router works.

    I think I will just install stock Asus software on his router and factory reset since I may not be here for several years. He only needs basic use. I was thinking, maybe try factory reset on yours before rolling back?
