Chose the Ubiquity Cloud Gateway ULTRA after careful research as we planned our move away from Asus. Have no need for Storage and Protect, Access, Talk etc. features. The Ultra runs like greased lighting, and best of all, operates cool compared to the Max. Still run Pi-Holes on separate boxes...

Interesting. I saw the Mediatek name mentioned in a proposed Open WRT router. But if ASUS already has a cool-running router maybe good to try the Asus TUF AX4200? OpenWRT wants to offer its own router

Noctua NF-F12 5V dedicated 5V version.

Why not use one 120mm USB Noctua? Runs quiet. You may also want to consider a cheap USB standing fan aimed at the rear of the router. That or put the router on a laptop cooling pad.

Very interesting. The Asus TUF line is known for being well designed and rugged. It may be the solution to the overheating problems with other Asus routers: "The vent location and double heatsink design improve cooling for increased stability..."

After going through half a dozen routers from Asus thinking of skipping the next model release and going for Synology.

Run Pi-hole on DietPi and you are done.
