I chose the non-Pro because of the frequency band allocation. As a side note I don't think the Pro is available in all European countries.

L3 in the switch was indeed disabled. I managed to get it working by enabling the '2.5G WAN only' option. After changing this I was able to enable 'Ethernet backhaul mode'. The curious part is that after I got it working, I was able to revert the priority back to 'Auto'. Seems like a bug...
