Hum... I've been eyeing the GT-BE98 but due to the price I've been holding back but if this RT-BE92U is really that crappy I might return this and just bite the bullet.
Hi!
I just got a RT-BE92U and oh boy, I'm getting very annoyed.
First it appears having all networks with the same name still is crappy and it's better to separate each band on a separate SSID. That managed to make 6GHz band devices have the expected performance for both wifi6e and wifi7...
I don't use the router part but I do use the switching part on 6 of the 8 nodes with all ports connected. But it really was money badly spent and I won't ever recommend asus options to friends and family because their support now vs the n66u era and when the ac68u was released is night and day...
And that's the last straw for me. I'll still keep using gnuton's fw for as long as he keeps updating it but this is the end of the line for me for asus routers. 1x ax11000 + 8x ax92u and the ax11000 won't be getting new features and the ax92u won't get more support. Such huge investment and I...
They were 5x before I put the fans. The graph is correct in the 1st values but then it never updated once the temperatures lowered. If I refresh the page the graph will show the new current value for those and then get stucked again. This is a problem in the graph itself and not in the reporting.
@RMerlin today I finally decided to put a fan on my AX11000 and while monitoring the obvious temperature improvements in the temperature chart, I noticed a bug.
The radio's temperatures lines on the graph don't update over time and stay fixed at their initial value:
I installed this firmware on release day it it was ok until yesterday where the router became unresponsive. I could ping all nodes (7 x ax92u) but I couldn't reach the ip of the master node (ax11000) and I had to reboot it. Weird issue and I couldn't see anything special on the logs.
Why change platforms if it works? And like I said I automated the process so it no longer is a problem for me.
1st it removes each node by order (to avoid unreachable nodes)
2nd it stores all static ips list and port forwarding info
3rd it stores ai protection domains list
4th it stores wifi...
Honestly it is the routers fault. Having to reboot it several times because that's a requirement in many settings it's painful. Not having a simple export for the port forwarding configs, static ips, etc is also super inconvenient.
If you use aiprotection and want to export the whitelist of...
I simply take issue with older and cheaper models are getting more FW updates in a regular basis than this one. It seems like buying specific asus router models is like gambling if you're going to have a good support or not.
And I feel entitled to be pissed for not having an identified issue...
For now I've been using 388.1_0-gnuton1 stable release and so far no issues with my several guest networks (that was my main issue with the last official FW) and even the 2 of the 8 nodes with wi-fi backhaul have no issues at all. Super stable and more than enough for my use case.
But I'm...
Having been using this FW for a few days with 7 rt-ax92u nodes and everything working good so far. I tried the vpn fusion and set one chrome cast with Google tv to use PIA vpn and it worked flawlessly. It's really a neat feature.
