Beta ASUSWRT Official beta 386-RC1 for RT-AX89X

With the newest March 2021 firmware (on the A1 revision) from the asus website, I’m getting better Wi-Fi performance than all previous firmwares, probably a good extra 60 Mbps down. iPhone is now pulling down over 900... before it was getting 840 max. And running the fan at low doesn’t trigger...

Beta ASUSWRT Official beta 386-RC1 for RT-AX89X

I have the a1. Drats. I never really had a problem with it anyways. Would be good to know what changed with A2 and then B1. I mean is it cooling with the 10 gbps port, is the 5 Ghz radio in the later revisions faster ?

Beta ASUSWRT Official beta 386-RC1 for RT-AX89X

What’s the difference between the A1 and B1 version of the 89x? How do we tell which hardware revision we have?

    GT-AXE11000 hits the FCC

Understood. I hope the market figures 6E out soon. I empathize with the feeling of being an early adopter only to realize the hardware is half baked. That’s how I felt last year when I got the ax89x only to realize it was unstable, and in fact is outperformed by cheaper routers such as the ax86u...

    GT-AXE11000 hits the FCC

It’s not possible to enable 160 MHz in the 5 GHz band without using DFS. The lower 160 MHz channel includes channels 36-64, and 52-64 are DFS. The upper 160 MHz channel uses channels 100-128, which are all DFS. and 120-128 is the weather band in the USA, and you’re likely going to get kicked off...

Enable Wifi 6E on GT-AXE11000 with this method!

And which channel? Considering how wide the 6 GHz band is, I suspect there might be a measurable difference between the lower 6 GHz channels and the higher ones (that sit at 7 GHz). Agreed the lower 6 GHz band should have similar propagation characteristics to the 5 GHz band, as compared to the...

    GT-AXE11000 hits the FCC

I wonder if certain 6 ghz channels have higher speeds than others? I mean 6 ghz is empty now, so it shouldn't really matter, but on 5ghz i get the best speeds on channel 100/104.

    GT-AXE11000 hits the FCC

I’m waiting on the Axe86u (if there’s ever such a product). I’ve had a decent experience with the Ax86u... unlike the Ax89x which I had to return. My sympathies for you early adopters. The experience sounds frustrating, especially with the ax210 not seeing the asus 6 GHz band. I wonder the...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

On beta4 I’m seeing a Big improvement in wireless speeds on the AX86u. 100 mbps faster on downloads on 5 GHz. Maxing out my gig connection now on my Wi-Fi 6 client, moving from 820 mbps (on betas 2 and 3, beta1 was far better) to 933 mbps down. Fastest speed I’ve ever seen from my Wi-Fi 6 client...

Ok thanks. Just putting my experience out there as I’m testing as well. Keep up the good work!!

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Hello. I would like to report a performance regression. 386.1 Beta 2 and beta 3 has Wi-Fi 6 performance regression on the ax86u. On stock asus firmware as well as 386 beta 1, I’m getting 920+ mbps down (speed test on two different Wi-Fi 6 clients, about 8 feet from the router). However...

Merlin firmware for the new RT-AX86U?

It’s been fine for me for over a week. Actually faster Wi-Fi speeds on the alpha than on stock 384 which is interesting.

    [Thread-1] [ 386.1_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

The FCC has said that the channels can be used for indoor low power operations “immediately.” And the new channels are not subject to DFS requirements. so why is there a need for recertification? the order is located here: here:https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-20-164A1.pdf From...

    [Thread-1] [ 386.1_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Gentlemen, After years of deliberations the FCC last week adopted new rules for the 5.9 GHz (5.850-5.925 GHz) band, which for 20 years has been left largely unused by its previous occupant, the automotive industry (for DSRC). The lower 45 MHz of spectrum will now be reallocated to Wi-Fi, which...
