this feature has nothing to do with dual band or tri band.

it is too in asus manual on page 55.

Strange. So Asus is misleading both advertising on Amazon and in their manual.

if you don't like it, you can disable it. for other people, like me, they will have the option to turn it on and let the router to handle it.

so you don't see the Smart Connect toggle under Advanced Settings > wireless? and you have AC88U?

can someone confirm if you can see Smart connect under Advanced Setting Wireless for AC88U?

that is not the benefit of this feature. the router will connect the most optimized band (2.4 or 5Ghz). it is not just a ssid name.

look like you are new to this feature. you should check out Asus manual.

let say you usually connect to 5Ghz band. some day 5Ghz is lost and the router connects to 2.4Ghz instead. hours later 5Ghz is back up but your device still connected to 2.4Ghz. you have to manually select 5.Ghz to connect. this happened to me many time. Smart Connect will take care of this...

Smart Connect is a feature that is listed on Amazon and Asus manual for both AC88U and AC3100. Smart Connect automatically switch between 2.4 and 5Ghz bands without user manually selecting to connect.

AC88U has this Smart Connect, according to spec on Amazon and manual. is AC3100 the same as AC88U? beside number of ports.

can someone confirm if this router AC88U has Smart Connect? I just bought AC3100 from Best Buy and just set it up but could't find Smart Connect under Advanced Settings Wireless, according to the manual.
