    What are some good tools to use to test bandwidth throughput? Am fairly new to this and just using speedtest.net with clients. But thinking there have got to be local LAN tools that can be used.

    Am most interested in what happens when a client that can only communicate on G speed connects to a router set up as an N speed router. Does that cause all clients to downgrade to G speed? Is your wifi only as fast as your slowest client?

    Just find it amazing that any home network can work and be optimized. Between A/B/G/N/AC/2.4ghz/5ghz how is the average consumer supposed to make wise choices on what to get. The cable Internet companies and landline Internet companies are still pushing there old 2.4ghz G wifi router-modems...

    Just trying to understand N versus Mixed modes and how to get the most speed. Does iPad 2 lock into N when it connects or does it use some mixed mode? Am a beginner to the different transmission speeds and how to optimize it all.
