    New EERO 3 pack

thanks I can run the VPN on each computer or phone. But I want to secure my network from hacking thru un-updated things. not that I have so many, but I want to do 'best practices' as much as a layperson can. would my old but updated asus router and 2 asus AP give me a "better" network than...

    New EERO 3 pack

I don’t know what to do. Should I integrate with ASUS 68u in bridge mode or use as stand-alone? Have FIOS gigabit and Windscribe VPN which we could put on the router or individual devices. I wondering what to do, in terms of security for guest networks, IoT other general security issues?

68u or blue cave for primary router?

Thanks, all. Sorry OE, I was cranky that day and responded badly. I kept the 68u as the main router and added the blue cave and a 68 u as aimesh nodes. It turns out that aimesh nodes cannot do guest networks. So I reset the two nodes as true wired access points. Things like my ring...

68u or blue cave for primary router?

I guess I'll get my 1200 baud modem out

68u or blue cave for primary router?

hi OE, a lot of that is not fully relevant. I did order 2 blue caves, but i probably only need to deploy 1. They should arrive tomorrow. i gave up on ubiquiti and the netgear . I would go ubiquiti, but I don't have a ceiling drop for the AP and am not doing it. so the current hardware I have...

68u or blue cave for primary router?

Hi, I have 2 68u, AC1900 on stock current fw. one is the router, other is wired aimesh node. have FIOS gigabit speed. I want to add another wired AP / node to the back of the house, so I got the blue cave AC2600, on the recent sale of $90. I figured it was as good as any other router in that...

    Large estate, ASUS or Orbi?

I gave upon ubiquiti system that i tried in February bec I couldn’t mount the AP on the ceiling. I have a 68u and just bought 2 Asus Blue caves from best buy, on sale this week for $90 each (they keep going in and out of stock) to give AiMesh a try with wired backhaul.

YazFi YazFi - enhanced AsusWRT-Merlin Guest WiFi inc. SSID <-> VPN Client

complete total newb here... i have a 68u running Merlin 384.9. If I add this YazFi, will it help me protect my main network from IoT hackers? Right now these devices are on a guest network with "access intranet" off. I probably need to do more than that to secure my primary network. I was...

there's so much to learn (which is good!) but I wish there was an all in one solution because I have other things in life that are more interesting... :)

    Configuration help requested

Back to my house.. :) I had not considered the issue of guest networks having access to the main network and isolating ioT. I thought that the guest network did isolate that traffic. Anyway, looks like I need a solution that can support VLANs. I'm looking in the the Edgerouter 4 and what would...

    Configuration help requested

I don't understand what you want me to read? No guest network makes it seem like another knock against AiMesh. Both routers are here now. Netgear came first and is up and running. Aside from the mesh issue, I am a little scared of the reports on 86u of 2.4 mode failing and also the R7800 is...

    Configuration help requested

Well, the delivery from Amazon is delayed. I’m back on the fence again, leaning toward the Netgear R7800 now. I have coax in my office and I can also drop a cable from my office to the verizon OnT/basement/the 68u location. I am honestly leaning towards a wired AP and not using AiMesh, but...

The Asus 86u should be arriving tonight. Will follow up in the next few days. Thanks so much for walking thru the process with me.

That’s true about the same configurations without the mesh option with the netgear plus it’s $50 less for the asus. The only thing really going for the netgear is the 4 antennas for the 2.4 range and longer 2.4 range supposedly

thanks, I'm also reading about the 2.4 g failures on the 86u. I am really leaning towards the netgear. I think I can set up the wireless access point (bridge) using that and the 68u.
